|
|
Hi
I'm currently looking for a good deal on a TT for use in the UK. I don't need anything fancy, just a basic TT but I'd prefer a bigger screen.
Comet are currently doing a deal of TT XL with TTS & full EU mapping for £116. See link and use code AWXLEUR10 at the checkout.
Is there and disadvantages to this combination? Would the UK mapping be the same as that in a UK 'regional' version? (The whole of the EU seems a lot to get in 1G to me.) Is TeleAtlas the normal mapping supplier? Would the extra mapping date limit the number of POIs or other data I might want to add?
Any info will be greatly appreciated. Regards - Andy |

I would double check the adverts because TTS has only been available in the USA on specific XL models, I wasn't aware it could be purchased with this capability in Europe.
The advert also claims the device is capable of receiving LIVE Traffic, this might be via RDS-TMC or a mobile phones data connection - but LIVE is a name only associated with the Go-x40 range - Mike |

Thanks Mike
I'd assumed the 'Live' claim was a mistake but I assume they must have the TTS & full EU mapping bit correct. The other thing that I wonder about is the memory needed for full EU mapping, the TT website shows the "Map of Western & Central Europe" to be 1.3G, I thought that the XL only has 1G internal memory.
Mind you, since posting above, I've spent most of the time looking through posts on the forum and a Go 520 for £116 from Handtec looks very attractive.
Thanks for the excellent forum - Andy |

Excellent, thank you. Can't quite get £114 delivered, seems to £115 + delivery (£10 + VAT) making it £126 delivered. Is there a discount code or something to reduce the price?
I assume that the TomTom refurbished units are generally 'as new'. Has anyone in the forum had any problems with TomTom refurbs?
Thanks again - Andy
Edit: Just seen your other thread with the codes and write-up on refurbs. Great stuff! Thanks. |
