Interesting ....
did you have to reformat - or was it a reinstall over the top? Also, did you bring Vista up to date and then install TT Home - or the other way about?

I didn't bother with a format just did a clean install which deletes everything anyway. I installed Vista, loaded SP1 & my anti virus SW & brought it all up to date. Next I installed MS Office & updates, most of the programs I wanted & finished this off by cloning the disk with Acronis (just to be safe). I then installed TomTom / home & it all worked straight out of the box. I've since installed other stuff without problem, & the only thing I've held back on is some Freecom NAS software which I'm a bit suspicious of, & which may have kicked off the problem. |

Hi everybody.
Got to say that I really appreciate all the assistance and ideas - I thought I had the answer earlier thanks to the UAC suggestion - but alas no.
For what it's worth, I'm running Vista SP1 32bit on an Asus MoBo running a quad processor at just over 11Gigs with 2Gig Ram and a 512Mb Nvidia GeForce video card.
The machine is set to run high end games with heavy processor demands - that said, it runs (almost evertything else) as sweet as a nut. TTH is the only exception.
I have had issues with TTH since 2.3 on this machine - and 2.5 seems to be totally incompatible on my specific machine - so have uninstalled and put it onto the wifes XP laptop - and of course it runs just fine. It's a bit of a bind though as she's not exactly tech friendly and I will have to relocate my GPSWorld account onto her machine and run the updates etc when she's not about as she won't touch it!
If some bright spark comes across the same issue and finds the remedy, please let me know!!!
Once again - thanks for all the help - that's what makes this place and others like it so worthwhile.
best wishes
Mick

I've got Vista HP (64-bit) and it works perfectly. |

Indeed. I have found that the Nokia USB cable that I use to syncy my mobile with my Vista machine works equaly as well with the TTG device(which by the way is working just fine on the XP laptop) to transfer data .
All I need do is plug the nokia cable into the TTG device and i can update my camera database and MP3 files to my hearts content.
The only bugbear is that to update TT specific data (map share etc), I have to go back to the wifes machine.
Ho hum.

I tried a mini USB the other way round without much success. I plugged a Nokia N95 into the TomTom car hardwired connection hoping I could use it to charge the phone. There was no charging but PC Sync did open on the phone!!! Clearly Nokia & TomTom aren't sticking to a common standard!! |
