If it wasn't for these forums and it's members being able to solve the problems on my TomTom, I'd have thrown it in the bin a long time ago.

PS All this refers to my 920 running App8.3 with NA v815 map. I couldn't try my 720 as its at work, so will try it tomorrow. |
I works OK on my 720. However this seems to be the same voice that AndyVaughan made available on the forum a couple of weeks ago. It's Kate v700 not v710. Anyway, it work fine for me so I will stick to this until an official download is available through HOME. |
If you look at your contents when connected to Home then Kate should be listed, if you hit the "more info" button, its v710. Also when i had Andy's, then Home always said it was not for my device. This onr doesn't say that as it was made available through Home Update! _________________ Go 720 v8.351 GPS v1.20 Boot 5.5120

When I do that it says v700 and still the message that it's not compatible with my device. Strange! |

It seems really odd that i can now get Kate v710 and you guys can't. Like i said earlier i'm in Florida, but i don't see how TT Home can make that differential!

If I empty my Loquendo folder and replace it with the Simon one posted much earlier in this thread, my 920 says I have no valid voice on it. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Also tried installing the posted files on top of my existing Loquendo but Simon says he is stil v6.93. |
Norm,
i have included a link to a complete LoquendoTTS file which has a working Simon (downloaded tonight).
Unfortunately for some reason Simon & Susan are still listed as v700, but Kate & Dave are listed as v710.
If you want to try this Simon v700 download and extract the Loquendo folder. Delete the full Loquendo folder on your unit before pasting this one in, that way you don't get any duplicates.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YPOVIJ2A
After the download it may say the selected voice is not available, be sure to go into prefs, change voice and reselect Simon.
Update on v710.
Sorry guys, Kate wasn't available as an update, i found her when i went to to add maps/voices then computer voices before i was offered the v710 Kate.
As i mentioned above, the Kate and Dave voices are definately v710, i have confirmed this with my 720 also now.
They are definately different to the v700 that Andy posted. When i hit more info on that file it is only v700 whilst these are defo v710.
Oddly though the offered Simon & Susan voices are still v700 although they don't have the warning that they won't work on my unit.
The v710 Kate worked on the 920 all day ok. _________________ Go 720 v8.351 GPS v1.20 Boot 5.5120

Gator,
You can't jump in and kick me also, you live here too damn it!
I can understand topgazza as he is in cold dreary blighty, which is enough to make anyone all bitter and twisted
Well i suppose i'll go have a cool beer by the pool for a while, then maybe watch a bit of American football later!

Is it only me who can't manage to get this new v710 Kate voice to work on a GO 720? What I did was deselecting Kate in voice preferences, deleting the LoquendoTTS folder from my device in Windows Explorer and copying the new folder from mrfreeze's download onto the device.
After performing these steps TomTom HOME still tells me I have Kate v700 loaded and that the voice doesn't work with my device (which it obviosly does). Undocking and performing a paperclip reset doesn't help either.

Uffe,
Make sure you use the remove items button in Home, the remove Kate first from your device and then from the computer. Then copy my Loquendo directly to you unit. Then using Home again look at the contents of your device again!
If someone can tell me how to get a screen dump of my PC and how i copy it into a rely, then i will show the more info page identifying the 710 Kate. _________________ Go 720 v8.351 GPS v1.20 Boot 5.5120

Could I ask a small favour?
As this is now a huge thread of 24 pages, could someone in a summary describe what has been recommended and worked out by all the great and the good out there, whether it be for different models, voices or whatever.
Don't know if it would help, but it may be a reference point for information if this problem persists, it has gone on for a good while now anyway.
So if anyone feels like it I know I would appreciate it. It also could maybe be added to Mr. Freeze's initial post?
What do you think?
Cheers
Carl |

Great idea. Someone who has done the upgrades, if its not too much to ask, to post the definitive voice link and Navcore link that seems to work the best would be most helpful as a seperate thread that could become a temporary sticky ? _________________ TomTom 720

If I look at the file dates and sizes, there is no difference between the Kate 7.0 and 7.1 |
