I have a tomtom 720 (v 8.3 with Western Europe maps 810.1907) and also a subscription to the Tomtom Map updates.
I can see there is a new map 815.2003 but it's trying to charge me £69.95 hardly free 12 months of map updates! |

John, can we try and stick to a single thread, if its in the wrong place one of use can move it - I answered your earlier post as did one of the other moderators:
John, Where did you get the idea that map updates were free for twelve months?
The devices are supplied with a single use map update to the latest standard of map that has to be used within the first 30 days of purchasing the device - Mike
Sorry Andy, it looks like you answered the other thread while I was moving it out of view! |

Sorry for the confusion.
I upgraded my map, and paid for the update service
From my orders on tomtom:
1 1SDA.054.02 Map Update Service - Western Europe GBP 33.45 GBP 39.80
1 1SDA.002.04CQ Upgrade to the Latest Map (original map discounted by ± 50%) GBP 33.45 GBP 39.80
I thought this allowed map updated for a year, whats the point of paying 33.45 if not? |

One of your charges was to bring your map up to the latest version which is necessary before you start the update service. This charge varies from zero if you have the most recent map to virtually the cost of a new map if it is really old.
When you have the latest map you then pay for the service to keep it up to date and that costs a fixed amount per year. |

it looks like you need to call TT support to tweak something at their end:

I would have expected to go from 8.10 to 8.15 that you would get a 75% discount on the new map as it is 8.10 is considered one quarter old and not two quarters and you should have paid £19.90
You would then pay the £39.80 to cover all future upgrades from 8.15 that happen over the next year. |

The map subscription began with updating to 810 from 7xx in the case of an x20 or from 805 in the case of an x30
815 maps are the first to be included in the subscription service and the second update since the service was offered - ie 810, then 815 _________________ Andy

I went from whatever was on the 530 to 8.10 on the LMG and then two days later 8.15 was released for which I had to pay about £7 as TomTom said I have used the LMG and can only do it once, even though it was in the first few days of owning it.
"It is not TomToms fault if it has been on the retailers shelf for some time" . I suppose I should have known that a new map would be coming out in a few days and not let Home update it on the LMG.
I could not take out the subscription service until I had paid for the 8.15 update. |
