I have upgraded the software on my 910 to 7.9 and the maps to 8.15. On journeys today the map refresh was abysmal, sometimes only once in SIX seconds but normally at about once a second! I can go completely around a roundabout but still be indicated on the approach. I changed the maps to the old 7.something ones but the refresh remained the same.

I noticed a post on the same subject for the X20 and above range where they replaced the operating system with the one from the X40range. As we cannot do that, any suggestions?

Have a look to see how many POIs are Enabled. The upgrade to 7.900 ticked quite a few of mine, and is a known cause of a very slow refresh rate.

I would suspect a bodged app release as per the x20s.

POIs will make a difference, if it is still the same after turning them all off get raising a support call and reference the numerous threads on here.

I updated my TT 910 to Navcore 7.900 running my trusty v725 maps.

No problems there except the automatic light sensor is now as buggy as ever.
Oh yeah, and had to fix the TMC issue.

I then updated to a v815 map Very Happy

My 910 is now so slow........ Sad

I only have the UK Pocket GPS World camera POI's enabled.

Good old TomTom does it again Rolling Eyes

Do you mean Enabled, or Warn when Near?

There is a world of difference in the response of the Device.

I have 4 Enabled and 21 set to Warn When Near. I have, as yet, not seen what I would call slow refresh symptoms.

I’m only using the 2 camera POI’s from "UK - Single file with all cameras" download.

Both POI's are set to "Show POI on map" and both are set to "Warn when near POI" to a proximity of 0.5 miles.

I have no other POI’s enabled.

Everything was fine until I updated from my v725 map to a v815 map.

The TMC receiver on my 910 has never worked properly since I got it. On the previous 7.162 it only ever reported delays as 1 minute and so never rerouted me.

After upgrading to 7.9 I found that the receiver does not work at all and never locks on to a station. I contacted TT Support on this and after going through various steps to reinstall things it still fails. Basically they said they are aware of the situation and wait for the next application update.

If you have managed to get the TMC working with 7.9 on a 910 I would appreciate knowing what you had to do.

Hopefully

Chris

Thanks for the feedback; have just tried that and TMC reception is back at last! However I have still got the original problem I had whereby traffic delays are only ever reported as 1 minute.

I've got a call open with TT Support and am discussing this with them. In the meantime if you know of a fix for the 1 minute issue then I'd be very interested in hearing about it.

Humm....

Traffic delays seem to be reported correctly on my 910.

Have you tried poking the reset button or setting the unit back to it's default configuration?

That is good news and gives me renewed hope that my TMC receiver will one day be working as it should; I thought everyone was experiencing this problem.
On TT Support's advice I recently backed up folders, reformatted the 910 disk, redownloaded the 7.9 application and copied back the folders. So I suspect most things should be OK now.

The only thing I can think of is that there is some difference in the content of the folders that is causing the problem. Any chance you could run a DOS command such as "DIR /S" redirecting the output with a greater than character to a file e.g. to C:\910FILES.TXT" and send me a (ZIPed up?) copy of the resulting file to compare with my 910 content?
