|
Hi Guys and Gals
i just bought the Garmin Nuvi 265WT Sat Nav, paid the subscription fee for Pocket GPS and then downloaded UK and EUROPE Speed Camera Definitions, yet when i go to my Garmin Unit, i canot see them anywhere under -TOOLS - SETTINGS - PROXIMITY POINTS
the only thing that is ticked is Garmin Safety Cameras which i paid £30 for the Garmin 12 Months Subscription before realising i could have got better definitions from Pocket GPS World!.......doh!!!!
i cant see anywhere in Proximity Points that the Pocket GPS definitions are installed correctly, i followed all the instructions with the installation, if i turn off the Garmin Safety Cameras box that is currently ticked, i dont get any notifications of ANY Speed Cameras!
what have i done wrong?
many thanks

Have you actually installed them using Garmin's Desktop POILOader application?
The full installation guide can be read here. _________________ Darren Griffin |

All sorted now Darren, i made a Tiny mistake
what i did was to load the Garmin POI Loader and then when it starts up, it asks you where you would like to save your points of interest to, i had always been selecting "Garmin Device" instead of going to "Custom Folder" and locating the actual POI folder in the Sat Nv unit itself, after that i simply installed all the Speed Cameras and it now shows up on my Units display as "Custom POI"
why did i have to use the Custom Folder (Advanced) folder and then select the POI folder in the Garmin itself?
if i use the first option called "Garmin Device" it installs ok but doesnt display on the proximity points............any ideas why, or has it put all these files somewhere else? im confused |

You shouldn't be doing that. You should choose "Garmin Device" and then choose the folder on your PC where you unzipped the Database download to. "Custom Folder (Advanced)" asks you for the folder because you chose "Custom Folder" so it needs to know where you want to save it.
