I like the look of the new Navigon units but does anyone have experience of the new units and the database from here?
Is it possible to do? _________________ Zumo 500 + 4GB SD Card, car Kit and GTM21
Linked to Autocom by bluetooth and all seems good.
Traffic reception in the central belt of Scotland and hurray NW England seems to be working again. Still a million times better than the Quest 2 it replaces

I'm not quite sure why Navigon is not mentioned very often here. Having a quick search of previous posts it *used to be* just a software program installed on other brands of hardware, so I assume that's why it doesn't have its own "slot" in the compatibility table HERE, but that obviously could do with changing.

Is the Mobile Navigator 5 from Navigon supported by the database?
You need to use an additional program like POI Warner (google this to find website) which costs about 30 euros to load the database. I did hear that a program called Poi Observer worked as well and this was free but only found German sites that were difficult to follow, maybe worth a look though.

Chris is correct, there are 2 reported alternatives detailed on these here forums.
The reason I asked my earlier question was depending on which version of navigator 5.x you have will determine whether Poi Warner will work. At least when I was looking earlier in the year 5.0 didn't work, maybe it is supported now, I haven't checked lately.
If you are using original Navigon software, you may be able to update this to version 5.2 (don't know if there is a later one) which I believe Poi Warner works with.
However, if it is another OEM version such as Medion, this upgrade route is not available.
I ended up joining the NaviFriends forum who distributed the Poi Observer program and eventually got it to work on a Medion PPC running Medion Navigator 5.0. Lots of the info is in English but the bulk of the site is in German.
...seem to imply that it's possible, but now Navigon have their own hardware models it may all have changed.
Have you looked through the user manuals on the Navigon website to see if they mention adding "user POIs" or similar?

Some yes, some no. The newish 7210 does seem to allow user POIs , according to Navigon's press release This could presumably include PGPSW provided there is a compatible file format. The 8110 definitely does NOT allow user POIs at present. I am not sure about the lower-end 2210 - as suggested check their website, where you can also download a booklet briefly describing the different series.
(and there ARE a couple of Navigon threads - search for Navigon, 8110, 2110, etc.) _________________ David
