Hi All,
I am after some help. I have a 540 and wonder if there is a third party app or a way of playing mp3s I have on the storage card.
Many thanks. |

I too would be very keen to play MP3s from my 540's storage card. Reading through the stickies, there used to be a Jukebox third party prog which did just this, but it would seem that it is not compatible with Ver 8... software, which is installed in the Go Live products.
Perhaps some clever developer will come to our rescue! |

As TomTom have given up providing any tools for software developers, it is vastly harder for them to produce new add-ons.
All I can suggest is that you try all of the three old ones in
THIS LIST and see if any still work. |

Has the x40 range dropped the Jukebox application? On the x20 you can put any .mp3 files in a folder 'mp3' on the SD Card and it works just fine.
That was one of the reasons I bought the 520 Music Edition and they also put a £10 iTunes card in the box! _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

Doesn't work on a 540. You can certainly put MP3s on your storage card but, when you go to Music, the only option is Controlling an IPOD. There is no Play option.
You have to wonder why TomTom removed this function! |

Perhaps Tom Tom are starting to realise that their new models - with old hardware !, are fast running out of hardware rescources as they add new features, after all.

Hi
There is a Media Player available from Mobilnova that support Video and MP3. They are just in the process of releasing a version that will work on the X40 series -at www.mobilnova.com you can download a demo version.
I used it on my old 910, I am just waing for them to generate a 540 version for me.
I hope this will help. _________________ Ipaq hx2750, TTN5, Globalsat 338 GPS, Garmin Nuvi 310D and GTM12, TomTom GO910 and now GO540

Thanks for that. Their site now says it is compatible with 540 so I might give it a try. It is 30 Euros though... At least you can try the demo first. |

I have got this running on the 940 and seems stable, takes a bit of getting used to but it does seem a little slow when you go back to the nav mode from the player screens.
I did get one lockup on the device when the application hit the two minute timer for the demo mode, but having tried it again 4 more times with no such issue - Mike |

So, apparently there exists some backdoor into Navcore 8 allowing 3rd party applications to connect. I wonder how they did that... |

It's nothing different from how it was on earlier versions. AFAIK TT haven't DELIBERATELY stopped the 3rd party apps from working. It's just chance as to whether their software changes happen to mess up the add-on or not.
The problem is that without an SDK, there's no easy way for developers to work out how to fix them. |
