Been looking to invest in a sat nav and found this one on eBay for £180 delivered. Brilliant price I thought.

Mapping pre loaded with UK and Western Europe.
Free traffic updates for life via the included RDS-TMC receiver.
Safety camera alerts.
Points of interest.
Car charger.
TomTom MapShare.
TomTom PLUS services weather, voices, scenic routes etc.
Voice guided instructions, 36 languages to choose from.
Voice address input.
Text to speech.
TomTom HOME, future proof for your device and access to satellite navigation community.

Cheapest elsewhere is over the £200+ mark. Does anybody own this one? Can you find anything wrong with it? I am familiar with the Tomtom One and thought that was excellent - but this one seems to be a whole diff class of sat nav!
Thanks! |

Is it new or used? - If used the maps might be a little out of date compared to a new one, but the device hasn't been out for major mapping changes, that said to update your maps to the latest version could cost you over £100 for the European and American maps - without the latest maps on the unit it won't offer the full capability the software can achieve on this device.
Have a look at This Thread for somewhere to get a 920 for under £200 and that is a new one - Mike |

Hi - thanks for the advice!
It is brand new, and includes UK and European maps.
Do you think there's a chance that the maps could be out of date? I thought you could get them updated free of charge anyway?
Would you recommend buying from a high street retailer instead, then?

The only thing I would suggest that Dixons and Currys etc. are doing brand new, pick up in store 920Ts for £199.99 or even less with online vouchers available for Dixons.
As for the quality of the 920 it is great.
As for High Street v Ebay, I would always go High Street if similar priced and same spec products were wanted. You are guaranteed a brand new, reputable version from Currys, not saying Ebay is dodgy but it could come from somewhere you don't want to know about, and if you have a problem a lot easier to return
Cheers
Carl

Was it you who posted the code up in that other thread? Can't remember, but thanks if so!
The code now only takes £10 off, and the SAVE5 code is no longer valid |

As for it being supplied with older maps and Navcore software I would say it is a 100% certainty if its a new device, this would apply where ever you purchase it from.
If you do purchase the device make sure you fully back it up BEFORE doing any updates, perform the back up using Windows Explorer rather than the TomTom Home software it is far more reliable using Windows.
Once you have your back up update the device to the latest software release (currently 8,300), once you have this on the device use the Latest Map Guarantee to download and install new up to date maps for free (currently v815) - Mike |

No negatives for me, can't fault it.
To echo what has been said before, take it out of the box and do a Windows backup before you do anything else !! _________________ Triumph Tiger 800 XRt

Wasn't me, I posted the initial £200 price, Zebb posted the discount codes.

Whilst you wait if you look around this site you will know what to do when you get it, backups, camera database purchase etc. etc.
Cheers

I would just say, do you need the USA mapping... if only UK and Europe, a Go 720 would suffice, and if only UK-ROI then a Go 520 likewise...

Average about £170 for the go 720.
Extra £20 for the US mapping [don't need it] and the other extras [extra memory, mp3].
Or does the 720 offer absolutely everything the 920 does apart from the US map? |

The 920 includes EPT (functionality when satellite signal is lost) and a remote. _________________ David |

No it offers more. Another nice feature (from the manual):
Enhanced Positioning Technology or EPT estimates your location when GPS
reception is poor, such as when you drive between tall buildings.
Your GO uses positioning sensors to monitor your acceleration and direction
and then estimates your current location.
I can vouch for this as well, it kicks in seamlessly and really does work great.
I recommend the 920T, top piece of kit. |

Hi
i've just purchased (1 week ago) the 920T from Dixons online for £174.99 which included delivery. It is a new unit with LMG so can be upgraded to the same spec as the 930.
Very Pleased overall with the unit once the Voice is is sorted. I noticed i was offered an update on TT home last night with an update for the KATE voice have yet to fully test but a couple of short trips today and had no issues with the stuttering.
Cheers |

These responses are good enough for me - 920 will be ordered this week once I have fished out the best deal, currently £180! |
