Sad Sounds like mine is faulty then, whenever the connection is lost the dots on TomTom GPS stop moving and the blue light on the GPS goes out (although the green light stays on). The only way to make it work again is to switch the GPS off then on again, once that happens the iPaq picks up the connection again and works normally.

Sounds like I'll have to send it back.

I've got the Fortuna Clipon with H2210.

When mine locks up I get a solid blue light on the GPS. When I unlock it (by unchecking the box within GPS settings from TomTom and then rechecking) it reverts to a flashing blue light.

Occaisionally it simply refuses to connect at all (either from start up or during use). I can normally cure this by switching the GPS off for about 10 seconds and then back on again.

Anyway, I have had the opportunity to check out the connection this weekend with POI display turned off. Only had 1 lockup on a 2.5 hour journey and 1 on a 1.5 hour journey so much much better. I had almost forgotten how useful TTN is!!

One thing I did notice yeterday was whilst driving along the motorway TTN3 suddenly announced "take the exit". When I looked on the screen though it was not marked that I should take the exit (the exit was another 2 or 3 miles further). Has anyone else experienced random verbal commands???

Matt

Has anyone seen any improvement as a result of the 3.03 GPS & TTN3.3 releases?

I have been experiencing BT drop outs for sometime and they are definately linked to the number of POIs you have monitored (no POIs-no drop outs). TomTom have been looking at the problem and eventually came up with V3.03 of Navigator and GPS driver. I have installed them both and I still get drop outs.

I have raised a suppoprt call on TomTom and there reply was don't use POIs and only use maps from main memory!!!!

They seem to be burying their head in the sand on this problem. I have asked for a statement from them stating that their product does not perform to specification so that I can take it back to the retailer for a refund, but as yet they have not provided it !

I had a drop out last night so I thought I would have a play.

My phone could connect to both my Tomtom receiver and my 2210 so I can only assume that they are both working ok, they just won't talk to each other.

There's nothing I can do about that.

Using Nav 3.03 and gps 3.03 I still had BT drop outs, however....

I have changed my map location from SD card to main memory and increased my POIs to 6 and I haven't had a BT drop out for over a day. Could it be SD card read time contributing to the drop outs?

I have now been running ver 3.03 for two days now and I have only had 2 drop out, that re-connected in seconds, with the POI's showing. This is much better that before, so it looks like the new version may have fixed the problem.

used to have BT drop outs with 2210 & tt3.

installed GPS2.07 after reading posts on forum all works ok now - no drop outs.

Installed tt3.03 the other day seems to be working fine.

so your still getting drop outs... though tomtom re-connects after. so it might be a bug on the 2210 and they found a way around it.

I have run it all today, with no drop outs and POI's showing. Looks like they have fixed it.

I have loaded the TTN3.03 updates to my 2210 Rom 1.10 but still suffer the same BT freeze when POI enabled.

I am running checkpoint (2) with the maps on SD card and have tried a hard reset before updating to latest versions.

I notice HP have BT Driver 1.4.1.58 Nov 03 and BT Manager 1.0 Oct 03.

I purchased my IPAQ in May 04 should I load these updates? any other suggestions?

Thanks

no need to install bt driver and manager updates. already included in rom 1.10. the problem could be the sd card. try installing maps on cf card instead.
