Okay, so I confess, I'm very bored, but ...
I would like to program in a route - with multiple waypoints so that I can specify an exact route - and then see a demo of it, but starting from a location other than my current position.
I can use plan route to see a demo of A-B, where A is not my current location.
I can specify multiple waypoints as an itinerary, and see a demo of it, but only starting from my current location.
I can't figure out how to run a demo of a multi-point itinerary from a location other than where I am.
(In case you're wondering, I was trying to figure out what IQR would think is the speed of a lap of Cadwell Park - which is mapped - told you I was bored!). |

Have you tried changing your Home location to the place you want to start from?

Thanks, but no good, as it starts from the current location, not the home location :\ |

Just to expand that answer. You need to connect to Home. "Operate My Go". Then click the button at the bottom "Set Current location" and wherever you set is used for all planning as your 'current' gps position. A very useful planning tool - not publicised, of course!
And save your itinerary or it may be lost when disconnecting.
The other way is to not have a gps fix (inside a building) - when planning TT will ask if you wish to set a current position. _________________ Alan

Ahh yes, I'd forgotten about that - alas, that wouldn't have helped me this afternoon when I was at work, and in any case, "Operate My Go" does not currently work for a 540

ORLY? I've never seen that before - normally it just sits there 'waiting for a GPS fix' (mind you, that was my ONE, I don't think I've ever operated the 540 without a gps signal). |

Only works when using Itinerary, otherwise it does do the waiting thing.

Hi Guinness2702
I once had a PDA running Tomtom Navigator and I was able to do exactly what you are trying to achieve. However, within a few days of changing to a Tomtom Go I realized that this was no longer possible because I could no longer turn the damn GPS receiver off.
The GPS receiver on my device is at its most brilliant when I don’t want it to work and I have never really overcome the problem that you are confronted with.
One piece of advice that I did receive from the forum was to wrap tin foil round the device and I must admit that on occasions it did stop the signal, but not always.
After nine months I still wish I could switch the recover off. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Hi
I’ve gone back (using the search) and have found the same topic that I raised a few months ago. You will see the answers that I received and I think that you will agree that it gets rather funny towards the end.

All you need is a little app called Tyre... it will allow you to plan an Itinerary route from anywhere to anywhere on your PC, then save it as a Tom Tom file, or even save direct to your device.

Hi AlandEi
Yes, I too use Tyre but the original question was ‘how to run the itinerary in Demo Mode’ from a given point. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.
