David, I believe you're quite active in the North American satnav forums, so could you not ask if any 730 user there could make the Loquendo file available for download by 720 owners?
I'm sure some of your members are as helpful as AndyVaughan!

I have been trying to call tomtom support all afternoon and evening and nothing!!! I did manage once to get to the options where you push 1 for personel navigation devices etc. Only to be waiting ages and then cut off. I shall not be getting another tomtom thats for sure.
Tody my 720 was unusable, it was missing everything constantly (after yesterday working fine).
DinAlt is it possible to post a link to your file at all (do you have Simon installed as well)
Regards |

I think DinAlt is on to something here. I have just replaced the "Loquendo TTS" folder on my 520 with one from a 530.
The free RAM has gone up from 7MB to 19MB. It works perfectly in DEMO mode. Will give it a try this evening and report back. |
I have just done a 30 mile drive which included some quite complicated double roundabouts and "Kate" didn't stumble over her words once.
I am therefore almost certain that the version of "Loquendo TTS" included with the 520 8.3 download is to blame.
I got the 530 version of "Loquendo TTS" from a Tomtom 530 belonging to a family member. |
I did a 60 mile journey today and again no issues with Kate stuttering over her words.
I am now pretty sure that replacing the "Loquento TTS" folder on the x20 with one from the x30 will cure the problem. |
Well I was wrong. Kate has started to stutter again! Funny how several people have found the problem somewhat intermittant.
I guess we are going to have to wait for Tomtom to fix it. That's if they accept it is a problem. |

Quote: | 7 downloads so far of the TTS7 files I uploaded - anyone got any feedback yet as to if they work for them? |
Thank you for making them available Andy...
Well it is good to see that it is working for some folks... but for those still having problems, perhaps this may be worth trying...
After giving the Nav 8.3 update a whirl a few days ago, I dumped it mainly due to my mobile phone continually connecting and disconnecting.. also it left me with very little free Ram, but I am luckily still on an earlier map, so am not actually dependent on this release...
However, I did like the new "pointy" POI symbols, and the reduced height of the menu bar at the bottom of the screen... so I decided to give the X40 Navcore 8.203 software, as discussed in this thread another try... however, still no computer voices... then remembered the X30 Loquendo TTS7 file containing "Kate" that AndyVaughan had made available... I deleted the X40 Loquendo TTS file from the Tom Tom, and copied the X30 one over... success... my phone stays connected, and I have the features that I wanted from the "ill fated" Nav. 8.3 software... and with this setup, I have 20Mb of free Ram with approx 60 POIs enabled and RDS-TMC connected
I wonder if this combination may work with the latest maps on the X20 devices as a stop gap, to allow owners still unable to use Navcore 8.3, to benefit from their new maps untill Tom Tom release the next Navcore version.

I went back to TTS6 today so that I can get the correct tech support info for my open case re the stuttering - I can't believe how bad it is compared to the TTS7.
I am putting TTS7 back on tonight and will try with and without TMC over the next couple of days.

I also have a tomtom 720 which after the latest offering has started to stutter.I have tried many things that have been suggested by others to correct the problem ....reload computer voice.....change files ...etc etc and all to no avail. It would be nice if tomtom admitted the problem existed and even better if they made available a fix.Would it be possible to have a pettition created that we all could sign and that then could be forwarded to "cough" customer support to show them the extent of the trouble. |
