For those interested, just looked at PC World, and so therefore will be the same at Currys.

A 920T is being offered for £199.99, a bit of a bargain really, as they are still selling 930Ts for £350

Cheers

Carl

Did they charge you for the 920 or the price for a 930T?

I did the same looking for a 520 or 720 and although they said they were in stock, there were only about 3 branches in the whole country that had any.
So I bought one on-line from PC World, was sent a confirmation email but after 4-5 days they had to admit they couldn't find one anywhere and refund my money.

Looks like £199.99 is the price of the 920T now. I spotted one today that had a black bezel and two holes at the top just like the 930 instead of three, did they change the design? Anybody seen cheaper than £195 from Dixons?

My 520 and 720 only have two holes at the top.

Down to £175 at Dixons now, is it worth it? (On line price after two discount codes).

It has all the bells and whistles apart from the HD stuff just released. If the HD Receiver ever materialises it will then have the lot, Europe and America maps, remote control, Traffic cable, those 2 on their own are worth a few quid. They currently want around £450 for a 940, so I would say £175 is a very good deal for something that is very close to it.

I have one, mine has had none of the lag, problems with speech etc. talked about, the hands free works wonderfully well, so all in all I would recommend it.

Cheers

Thanks Carl, I've had another read of this sites review of the 920T and I think I'll give it a miss.

btw, PCWorld still has the 110% of the difference offer, so it's £172.50 there.

I think the 920 is one of the best PND's TomTom have made, at that price it is a bargain.

Really? I got the impression that you weren't that keen, The FM that hardly worked - hiss and trying to find a good frequency and the TMC that couldn't be relied on. I do like gadgets and this has plenty of them, even if you look at the price of maps all of Europe and North America, purchased separately, they would be £190 ish so this PND is sold at a loss?,(if they can all be updated via the Latest Map Guarantee). I have only had my TT for ten weeks and they were intransigent about the LMG, so I'm very reluctant to give any more money to TT.

If you are going to be driving in the USA... buy a go 920/30... If you will be driving in Europe... buy a Go 720/30... if you will only be driving in UK and ROI... buy a Go 520/30... Just reminding folks that they are very similar devices... bar the maps... Very Happy

Alan.

I don't use FM Transmission, more trouble than its worth in our small island where the airwaves are so congested.

TMC is an issue for all PND's not just TomTom.

So why upgrade? If you need the US/Europe maps then get the 920, it's a very capable and well featured device. If you don't then save your money.
