Thanks.
Will the installation of 2009 allow you to return to MapSource 6.13.7 because that seems to work well.
I have tried 6.14.1 and returned to 6.13.7 with the v2008. _________________ Garmin Oregon 300 + Garmin iQue 3600

You can't get back unless you uninstall CN 2009 ..There is a program that will allow you to have the new and the previous version installed at the same time, its in dutch but its being worked on .post 22 of this thread

Is this any good?
http://www.activegps.co.uk/garmin-nuvi-610-maps.htm
The UK map comes on SD card. Is this the same as the DVD? I presume if you have the DVD you have to unlock each map you need, you don't upload the entire of Europe do you?
Is there anything like a free monthly update either with the DVD or this SD card?

The maps are preloaded and locked the SD card so you just insert it and use it.

The DVD allows you to create regional maps and unload them to the unit if your unit can't handle the whole Europe Maps. Or if your unit can handle the entire European map you just upload the lot.

No, but Garmin are due to introduce some sort of subscription based quarterly update. |

Thanks for your help and reply PaulB2005...
I guess ultimately I'm trying to work out what to do, I can't do the download (connection too slow) so need to chose between SD or DVD.
What is the recommendation...any pros / cons etc?

With the DVD you get a chance to re-install if you damage/loose the SD card. You can't copy the SD card in any usable way. _________________ Phil |

Thanks mate...
It looks like buying the DVD is the route to go...
ONE last question...
I keep hearing about Garmin doing a quarterly update subscription...if we were to buy the DVD, would we automatically get the subscription (or some sort of deal), or, is it likely that we would have to pay again for the subscription option, ie, pay twice in effect?
I can't think of anything else to ask now...have I missed anything to make this thread complete?
Cheers...Alkemist |

Guys,
Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong please????????
I intend having a 3-4 week European motorcycle trip in 2009.
I have a Garmin Quest 1 which has performed great over the last couple of years but the memory aint so good for long distances (Slovakia etc.) and POI's.
So............................. I purchased a WD PASSPORT portable hard drive thinking that I could download all my maps etc. on to it and just use an internet cafe to put extra tiles on to my unit.
Cant seem to get it to work though!!!!
Garmin does show on the portable device but when I click on it to open it up it says that there are no Mapsource products!!!!
Please help this technophobe!!!!! |

I think the Garmin Mapsource application has to be installed on the PC because it keeps the map key and map details in the registry.
I can't think of an easy way around it, off hand. _________________ Gone fishing! |
