Well you don't have to. You have three options:
- Buy the 'full feature' mount with the iPod Connector which 'may' support the earlier RDS antenna such as you have. We'll see if we can confirm this works.
- Buy the current RDS Antenna
- Save your money
My experience of TMC in France this year was very poor and I wouldn't be bothered if I didn't have the service next time I went there.
In 1200 miles of driving there I had no warning at all of the two bad traffic jams and plenty of non-existent ones [/list] _________________ Darren Griffin |

Can you give more details on this "Full feature" mount, I would like to link an ipod to my new 540 so it sounds like I need it. |

Not much to add really. It's identical in design to the standard mount but includes on its rear an iPOD Connect socket and audio out. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Like this one perhaps:
You can see the USB Data/ power socket, then the other two connection posints the iPOD/ RDS-TMC followed by the audio Line Output connector.

TomTom are stingy sods. How many extra pennies would adding those sockets cost + they removed the remote from the 940 as well. I hate penny pinching. |

We were all under the impression that this mount would have been supplied with the 940 and were surprised to discover they had changed their minds at the 11th hour.
It does seem stingy but may be a reflection of the fact that margins are in free fall and every penny has to count these days. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Just an update, (and thanks to MikeA) I can confirm the x40's can use both the RDS-TMC receiver types (original and mini-USB) subject to your having the full feature mount for the former of course!
I've re-annotated the image above to reflect this. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Darren/mikealder thanks for the response. I don't suppose you have a part number for the mount as I can't find it on TomTom's site, but that could be me being dense of course.
Thanks

Just taken one back to Halfords in St. Albans (the one near the big asda or sainsburys at the bottom of hollywell hill).
Don't know if they would let you buy it though, as the staff were all in a flap about whether they could even refund me, since they don't actually stock it yet. Eventually it was sorted out though. |

Just tried this - with my postcode, none of the nearest 5 have it available for reserve and collect, including St. Albans, where I dropped it off today. |
