hi there
i have owned by garmin 255 for some weeks now & just wanted to ask help on this....
i usually travel along a stretch of road where traffic police are doing speed checks etc where sometimes even i can get caught out nearly....
but can i get this alert on my garmin to alert me like a proximity alert just like when im approaching a fixed speed camera and stuff where it will bleep & show me?. something like safety zone alerts where i can be alerted to these kind of situations before i reach that point?.
where do i start?.
i went onto the garmin POI loader which confused me...any easier way?.
or is there such a way?.
is there a better step by step way?.
thank you everyone....
GARMIN NUVI 255. |

I'm not familiar with Garmin, but your post leaves a lot of questions which will need to be answered before someone can help.
Have you subscribed and downloaded the speed camera database from this site, or are you still referring to Garmin's own proprietary data? The PGPSW database includes mobile speed camera sites - I'm not sure about Garmin's.
Is your problem related to getting hold of the information in the first place, or loading the relevant information to your Garmin? (Yes you will need POILoader to install the data, but you've got to source it from somewhere first!).
Have you looked at the speed camera submission page here to see if the particular camera point you are referring to is actually held on the PGPSW database? (If it's not there, subscribe first, then submit it as a new site and potentially earn yourself a free lifetime subscription). |

You don't appear to have a subscription to our camera database, are you using Garmin's?
We don't offer alerts of zones as such but where a location is regularly used by SCP's or Police then we do record them and these would be available if you subscribed to our database.
POILoader is just a utility to load the data. You need to subscribe to a service to get the data in the first place. _________________ Darren Griffin |
