Guys
I really need some help !
I have just updated my device software using TomTom Home V2.4 and for some reason my previously installed safety camera alerts have disappeared !
The software version number is now 8.010
Prior to this I had the speed camera database installed when I bought it....
Stupidly I didn't back up before updating.... What do I have to do now ?
Have I lost them completely ? |

If it's TomTom's cameras that have disapeared, consider yourself very lucky and get the PGPSW ones instead. _________________ TT Go Essential |

I have to confess I agree wholeheartedly with calomax - safety cams from PGPSW are a far better bet. THIS LINK will tell you why.
In the meantime, you may not have lost them, just the settings for them. You haven't said which TT model you own, and there are different menu options between models. Find the menu option to activate the cameras and they should reappear. Then you'll have a load of ancient cameras! (The pgpsw ones were completely updated this last Wednesday and I suspect your TT ones will be quite a few months old).
BUT before you do anything, get a backup right now - use Windows Explorer to copy the entire contents of your device to a folder on your PC's hard disk. _________________ Dennis

Any idea where the settings would be to activate them again ?
It's a TT One UK and Ireland V4 by the way
[ and I've now used explorer to back it up this time ! ] |

They are in the map folder (sorry, to be precise 'the folder with the name of your map') like the user POIs.
Three files for each country; the UK ones are
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2.dct
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTomOv2.ver
Other countries have names such as the delightful:
Fartkamera_SE_TomTom.ov2 etc |
