Hi - I live in the UK and am thinking of purchasing a GPS device sold under the RAC name - model 215 or 215E. I would like to use it with your camera database as I have read that its database (although free) is very out of date. This device runs Route 66 software which I see that you support, but i do not know what version of Route 666 software it supports. Can you advise please. Thanks.

Try and get a demo in store prior to purchase of any device running Route 66.
If its running version 7 software the speed camera database from this site will work on the unit, the downside is the map is over two years out of date.
If its running version 8 software then you cannot use the speed cameras, but you get an upto date map.
To be honest I wouldn't entertain this device, spend your money on something like an entry level TomTom or Garmin - Mike

Thanks Mike - you are probably right - its a cheap unit and it looks OK plus I have read quite reasonable user reviews of it, but I suppose you get what you pay for - an entry level TomTom or Garmin it probably is then :-)

The other approach would be to spend some time searching for a TomTom 520 if all you need is UK, or the 720 if European mapping is required. If you can find one, these are the bargains to be had at the moment, it does take a little messing around with updates to the software and maps, but you can get these devices for very little more than the cost of the TomTom One range at the moment - Mike
