Hi

2 days ago I purchased and downloaded the "latest" map (810.1907) for my 720.
Yesterday I found that 2 corrections I submitted in NOV 2007 were still on my 'new' maps.
(both no right turns)

Why are they STILL on the map (and why dosent my unit remember it!)

Also travelling in central London (small place in the Uk) TT tried to take on another no right Turn. This was in Horse Guards Ave turning into Whitehall. Not some little side street!!!

Just how new are these maps!!

apart from silly white arrows appearing nothing appears to have changed.

If anyone has some info on what is new on these maps, please let me know.

Thanks

PS Cant wait to hear what TT have to say on Monday

The mapshare corrections do not apparently transfer from one map to a different one. Your new map is "different" from your old one. I can't wait to hear your report on what TT have to say on Monday. I bet we've already heard it though. Evil or Very Mad I'll be grateful if you can persuade them to get the no right turns accurate in London - cost me a congestion charge a few weeks back when I was told to turn right onto Euston Road and it was prohibited. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad And a fair extra chunk of distance and time when I couldn't turn right onto A40 from Wood Lane.

and what if someone had made the m25 a dead end ,how much would everyone complain if that too went tough to the next map version ,these things have to be verified first before they can be brought across cos some lame brains do stupid things
give tomtom a break they are doing a damn good job as far as i can see

Andy,
Surely there's some middle ground here. Of course these things have to be verified but I'm sure the major right turn issues in London are up the top of the reported items for mapshare corrections. You might think they could be verified quite easily as it's a major city. I suppose what we are all wondering is just how long it takes for these corrections to appear? These aren't some wrong route down a track in the Yorkshire Dales, these are junctions which Tom Tom users must be logging several times a day.

Sorry Andy, but that's exactly what happened to the A40 going in to London - that was verified by TomTom! And issued by them as a mapshare correction in the "verified by TomTom" category. That's not in my classification of "damn good job".

Jimbo has the main point that major right turn issues in London are important enough to warrant proper and prompt attention by TomTom.

I think the frustrating thing is when I started out with my original 520 map (v715) and sent in updates for missing local roads (Peterborough) which have been around for a couple of years, you would expect that 2 map generations later, with the additions made through mapshare, that some of them would have made it on.

Then you drive up the A1 past Stamford (Carpenters Lodge if anyone knows it) and the map (I think v720 on) has the all of the A1 road works finished, (Stamford; Colsterworth; Grantham; A17 r/b; Retford; Blythe) just as the preparation for the Stamford ones were starting!!! - Roundabout still officially there by the way as I drove past it on Friday!

They have no excuse to say they don't know about 'no right turns', 'new roads take time to add' etc, if they have obviously used plans to show the A1 layout before it actually is like that.

I like the forward planning and yes these are major main route improvements, but if they can do this then surely a "no right turn" should be a no brainer.

Al

Hi

Coudnt get through to TT today but will try again tomorrow, so Ill let you know.

I did some more investigation on these 'new' maps today.

you can go the same if you like,

Find Kings road london SW3 (Chelesa) Answer. NOT Shown

Find Hickmore Walk SW4 (Clapham) Answer NOT Shown

Find Knowles Walk SW4 (Clapham) Answer NOT Shown.

Find Old School Close SW19 (Wimbledon) Answer NOT Shown

Try and Find Lewisham High Street in city of Lewisham NOT Shown.
But shown if you look under city of London.

BUT! BUT! You can find them ALL in the Phillips paper atlas of London.
Current price £10 @ Amazon

PLUS Phillips has a very detailed central London part showning ALL illegal turns, both left and right.
PLUS Phillips copyright date is shown as 2007 (same as Tomtom)
PLUS Phillips use the same teleatlas and OS as tomtom!!!!

Im Sorry Andy but Im not willing to give TT a break at my expense. (either by buying 'new' maps or incurring fines)

So just what is new again?

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
