may I ask you where did you get your £170 new unit from? |
Pentagon GPS were/are selling TomTom Go 720's through Amazon for £166 + £4 P&P.
It's my first dealings with Amazon, and Pentagon, and I can't fault either.
I also ordered a TomTom Go carry case with strap for £10, nearly half the price of some places I looked. _________________ A Happy user of...

I bourght a Tomtom 910 Factory Refurb 3months ago from Total PDA.
No map updates with that, maps 2 years old.
Just got from them a 720 and with that there was a map update card.
What`s going on with Total PDA. can anyone throw any light on this, both units same price £140 e-mailed Total PDA re the 910 they said unit is refurbished but not the maps, so I am stuck with 2 year old maps unless I pay TomTom another £140 to update the maps of Western Europe and USA. |

thanks for that
I'm glad your deal went smooth but I've heard many horror stories of people dealing with Pentagon (just look at their ebay account for example)
My friend ordered a One v4 and received a Garmin instead. He tried to contact them. Not only they hardly answer the phone but when they do they are incredibly rude and unhelpful
I didnt feel to take the risk and ordered a refurb from TotalPDA |

Just updated the maps and firmware on my daughters refurbed 720, it took 5 hours to download and install on a broadband connection, is this normal? Still P***ED off with the 910 2 year old maps though, if I had known there were no updated maps with it I would have got a 720 for myself. I do feel Total PDA conned me there. |

5hrs is abit long. it took me 2hrs10min to download and install (just the v8.10 map). how fast really depends on your own connection speed and internet provider.. Also depends when u downloaded and some providers might cap your bandwidth depending on your package. |

Mostly, it depends on TomTom's servers (i.e. how fast the hamster is running in his wheel).
I've had 5 1/2 hours for a W+CE map before now. |

I got it
anyway I've not been as lucky as some of you people
Latest maps come at £20 (75% discount) and the voucher is obviously out of date.
One thing that I don't understand is why a "TomTom update service 1 year" must be added. That's another 40 quid which I'm not willing to pay.
Can't I just get the latest maps? |

CORRECTION!!
I now have the latest 810 maps FOR FREE
Apologies for the confusion, never owned a TomTom before so I'm new with Home and everything.
Basically by clicking on the "maps" icon in Home you're redirected to the shopping page.
If you instead click on "tools" top-left of the page and select LMG, then you get the maps for free.
Download and install took totally a hour
I'd like to point out, as DinAlt already did, that you have to update software for 3 times, before getting latest maps
again sorry if anybody got alarmed |

Casper has what is best described as a 720T, with the full capabilities of the 730T for quite a considerable saving when you compare the difference in price between the two devices.
There are a few bargains kicking around at the moment for people who want to save some cash but also want the latest capability from the device once upgraded (which is all free - except the time taken to accomplish the upgrade) - Mike |

just to say I got another 720 for a friend of mine, from TotalPDA
installed Home on his PC and guess what? maps 810 for free
I would go so far and saying that by getting a TT x20 from Toatal PDA you have a REAL good chance to basically get a x30 for half the price |

I've just ordered the 720 from totalPDA for £140. Added a Carcomm swivel mount to fit onto my Brodit Vent clip.....total including delivery £11)....£163. very pleased with that as I was with teh assurance that all refurbs come with 30 day latest map guaratee. It should arrive tomorrow and I will be updating the OS first then the maps but I might just leave that for a few days, at least, to let the initial rush die down..... _________________ TomTom 720
