Hi,
Does anyone know what GPS chipset the RoadPilot MicroGo and Snooper Sapphire speed cam detectors use? I'm hoping sirfstarIII as it'll work from the cubby near the gearstick then.
Also does anyone have any experiences of these (mainly the database performance) or the New Talex device (better than the Novus?).
Any help is appreciated.
thanks,
Mark. |

I have an original Talexlite and it won't work from within the underdash cubby hole, no signal.
A colleague has bought one of the latest Talex devices and he has the same car as me (Latest Honda Civic) and his works OK, just the sound is a bit muffled. _________________ DashCam:

Thanks for the replies.
Whats the database like these days for the Talex Kremmen? I too have a new Civic and was planning to put it in the cubby near the gearstick (as per the thread on civinfo: http://www.civinfo.com/forum/electronics/17311-talex-gps-speed-camera-detector.html. It looks like the old Talex devices have Sirf2 chipsets whereas the new ones have Sirf3, so i'm assuming anything with a properly configured Sirf3 chipset will work in that position. I was just a bit dubious as to the quality of the database because at the end of the day thats whats most important.
thanks again,
Mark. |

Hi
The database is OK but it tends to be about 3 or 4 weeks behind here with regard to new cameras. I think now that the Talex / Novus feud has ended they seem to be doing the job in hand.
You can put the unit behind the flap under the radio and it should work OK but slightly muffled even with the flap open.
I've had to move mine back on top of the dash to get a signal. _________________ DashCam:

Let me know.
If you decide to put it in the cubby hole then let me know if you want to hide the wiring.
It's quite easy but requires some guidance. _________________ DashCam:

yeah any help with that would be appreciated please, i noticed on the posts on civinfo you mentioned doing this but i'd probs need a bit more info as i've never had the civic in bits before.
We can keep the discussion on civinfo if you prefer (bit more on topic)?
Cheers,
Mark. |
