Very new to this forum.
Looking to get a GPS Data Logger that has stellar signal reception for both backcountry and urban use, can be both used to Geotag Photos, or just log route to use for Google Maps and Earth.
Also, would love any feedback on which has best combo of GPS hardware AND software.
Much thanks--

I have a Garmin Nuvi 760 that has data logging that I use to geocode my photos. Think it has enough memory to record about 11 or 12 hours worth of journey before it starts overwriting the earliest data. |

Welcome
Or you could go for a no-frills tiny GPS Logger like the QSTARZ 1000 or 1300. Both of these have bluetooth capability, very good sensitivity and come with s/w that helps with the geo-referencing of photos.
I have the 1000 and it has an SD card slot - you can log for a VERY long time with a 2Gb card inserted. The 1300 is reviewed on this site (somewhere).
Both are small enough to be carried in shirt pocket - I clip mine to my 35mm Digital SLR withought affecting anything. _________________ Phil |

I have researched...
I'm narrowed down to GISTEQ Phototrackr or Qstarz BT-1000 platinum.
WHICH DO YOU RECOMMEND?
I like the motion sense auto battery saver for the GisTEQ, so I'm
leaning that way...
But, I like the better GPS sensativity of the BT-1000 platinum.
So, I have a few questions that will narrow my choice:
If I go the GISTEQ route:
Which GISTEQ Phototrackr should I get?
CD-111 or CD 110BT
(I have no need for the BT capability)
What is the difference between these models...and the
CD-111 PRO or CD 110BT PRO ?
Where do you recommed I buy these items online? Amazon, Semsons? Any other?
Does this device offer altitude data?
Is the GISTEQ easy to use to import to Google Maps?
As for the QSTaRZ:
Do you have issues with battery life?
Is it difficult to use with Google Maps? It says it has software that connects to Flckr. I don't use Flckr and only want to use data with Google Maps and/or Google Earth?
Where do you recommed I buy these items online? Amazon, Semsons? Any other?
Does this device offer altitude data?
THANKS!!! |
