I'd pay little heed to the issues with the x20, it's very stable now. _________________ Darren Griffin |

thanks for all the inputs guys, much appreciated
Apparently that's a refurb
if you scroll down, under "Whats in the box", it states:
Remanufactured by TomTom to Brand New Condition with 1 year manufacturers warranty
I sent another mail to handtec asking about maps version, here's the reply
Quote: | Hi,
The version is 7.221.
Please comfirm if TomTom will provide updates or not as this would be highly appreciated for marketing purposes? |
I believe this means a 50% discount on new maps??
I must say I'm very happy with their customer service, I'm tempted to buy from them even if it's almost 20 quid cheaper at totalpda |

Sorry, I obviously didn't read down far enough - but it was some crazy time in the middle of the night in the absence of sleep caused by sick child over several nights.
My humblest apologies to all concerned.

and exactly what on earth are you apologizing for?

very sorry to hear about your child
I hope He/She will recover soon |

I thought I'd found a bargain and even added the shipping costs without reading any further than the first picture _________________ Andy

I would get back on to Handtec though as the information you have quoted is wrong!
There never was or will be a version 7,221 map this number relates to the software version installed to the device which is different. Map Versions would be:
705
710
715
720
805 (although only if downloaded for the short period they were avail)
810

Mike.....there was (or is) a version 7.25 map for North America which apparently is equivalent to the NA 8.10 map in content except for the lack of ALG & IQ routing data. _________________ David |

can't guarantee it'll work for you but the refurbished 720 I've just received had the LMG - upgrade it to V8 OS first then d'l the V8.10 map (but be prepared to wait a long time for the d'l since it's 1.5GB and TomTom's server soesn't seem to be very fast...

mine was bought from handtec a couple of weeks ago. Originally they were suppose to be new products but due to demand they had to ship out refubished products. When i ordered mine on the 9th they didnt have the manufactured statement. but when i checked again on the following tuesday as there were suppose to get stock on monday 13th and it got delayed they changed the discription.
I still have the go 720. everything is working ok and the LMG worked. it came with the leafet about the 30 day LMG but when i connected it via the usb and home u could use the LMG without using the product code.
Like it was already said in this post.. make sure u dont accept the first new map offer as u need to update the software twice before u can get the v8 map.
IQ routes and ALG are nothing special imo but its better to have the option of them then not i suppose.
But if i had a choice now i will probably have bought from totalpda rather than handtec if i were gonna get a manufactured refurbished product as it would have been cheaper. ofcourse if u want a total new one then pay the extra £30 or so. there aint much difference.
Also as for accessories have a look at amazon.co.uk. they do this 3 for 2 pack for about £20 which includes the case and an additional mount with charger and speed charger its well worth looking at.
I also did ring tomtom up before i received my tomtom and they confirmed that manufactured refurbished products did come with the LMG. But what u have to make sure is that product has never been connected up once its been refurbished. |
