Hi! We see you’re using an ad-blocker. We’re fine with that and won’t stop you visiting the site.
But as we’re losing ad-revenue from this then why not make a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!

I'm not being rude, but why do you need to know that? _________________ Go Classic

Why should any list be of interest unless you honestly think you qualify for a lifetime membership?? - You have hardly bounced back from two or three years away from the forum to make such claims, bearing in mind the manor of your other post earlier tonight
I have no intention of deleting your posts or moving them, if you feel you have a valid reason (with proof) that you qualify for a free life membership please present basic facts, I trust you have got an understanding of what qualifies for the life time membership? - Mike

I've just replied in your other topic HERE. Why not keep it all in one place?
It is up to the individuals as to whether they have their subscription records shown, not you.
But I'm happy to give my own details:
I was a previous contributor to the site. I argued passionately that I thought it should be kept free for all, but eventually accepted that if it was to continue and grow, it would need a full-time, paid administrator to manage it.
I accepted the free life membership and have continued to contribute since then.
As I asked in your other topic - did *you* contribute before?
If you did, then you get free subscription for life, it's as simple as that.

no, the mod's do not have that info. we have a list of email addresses of all those who contributed either financially or by submitting cameras before the charge was introduced. all these were offered free subscriptions for life.
since the charge we have records of all submissions and can see who was first etc and who, therefore qualified for the free subscription.

cyberpunx, I also contributed to the site and received Lifetime Membership for reporting ONE camera before the Membership fee was introduced. You'll notice both I and Andy_P, to name but two, are now camera verifiers and continue to contribute for no other reason than try to help make the database as accurate as possible.
Back in the days of 'free database' there were less cameras and the database was basically for TT. If you become a paid or, as as been said, a Lifetime Member if you qualify, you will see the difference between then and now. Just to clarify, the team have access to a list of all those who were offered Lifetime Subscription's when we moved to the commercial service.
If you are posting because you believe you may have been entitled but did not receive the email inviting you to upgrade then send an email to supportATpocketgpsworld.com with details of your claim.
We will need the email address you were using back then and if possible, details of any submission i.e. the Camera ID#.
If we can identify your submission or your email address in the qualifier list then you'll get upgraded _________________ Darren Griffin

Free Lifetime membership was introduced in February 2006 at the time of the start of membership subscription. That's reflected in my join date, as I had been an unregistered user, taking the free downloads. I was submitting data for some time before that and was actually considering making a donation of embarrassed gratitude for all my downloads - I never did that because I had no idea how to make payments over the internet and was afraid to try it (even today, I've only made enough internet purchases to count on two hands). What I was doing was submitting data as often as possible. Being a whitevanman gave me a good reason to use the database and also opportunities to send info in. I have no idea how many I sent in. Just as I was winding up the courage to discover how to donate or subscribe, I got the email offering me free lifetime subscriptions and I couldn't accept fast enough!
I continued submitting data whenever the chance arose. To be honest, I have never really considered that to be "contributing" - I do it on the basis that if there's just one other person doing the same as I, then when I travel in his area, he's helped me out and I do the same for him. PGPSW subsequently asked if I'd become a Verifier and I was perfectly happy to do so. Again, even though it's absolutely unpaid, I still don't think it's contributing in the sense that it's MY stuff, merely helping to keep the database on top so that it's useful to me as I travel my 60,000 miles a year. And of course, I know there are shedloads of like minded people out there doing the same for me.
When I first started getting the downloads in 2005, I did wonder how they managed to let me have it for free - the only other free thing I get in life that I know of is the air I breathe. I've grown up paying my way. It didn't seem unreasonable to me when they announced the site needed a full time employee, so paying my way was never in doubt. The pirates really fire me up - how many of us agree that benefit scroungers are scum? Pirates are no different, leeching off the rest of us. No, I have NEVER copied a music CD. ALL my software is fully paid for and I DON'T copy Desktop software onto our laptops.
You were a registered member before me, so you had the same opportunities as I had. Andy_P and Lost_Property are only two of the hundreds or thousands of people who contribute data for the same reasons as I do. Hundreds or thousands of others take the downloads and don't contribute data, whether because they don't want to or don't find it possible. _________________ Dennis
