POI's don't seem to be a problem on my 2210 (wired gps). At least the speed camera data work fine.
I'll prbably go back to TT2 on my 3950.
BTW provbabaly a silly question but if I off load the data on my 21`8 mb SD onto my descktop computer, will it reload suitably on a new larger SD card?

Your data should be movable to a larger SD card - copy it off one card and onto the other.

I have been using TT3 on my 3950 Ipaq with PPC2003 for about 2 weeks now, this weekend we went from Reading to York to visit family. I now have the safety screen set to 40 mph due to the new functionality, I can honestly say I have never had a problem. I use TT3 every single day and apart from the odd lockup when planning a route it has been OK, I am currently using a Leadtek 9532 in SIRF 4800 and the maps are installed on a Panasonic 256 mb SD card.
I don't know if this is relevant but a couple of months ago I set up a friends 4150 with TT3, I used the same gps driver as in my setup (SIRF 4800) but when we tested it we found the instructions for turns to be late, I think I set the safety speed to around 60mph as I didn't know about the new feature. I changed the gps settings to NMEA 4800 and everything was fine, he has the original TomTom wired gps unit. I have sinced brought a TomTom wired receiver for my wife's car and have been using the same SIRF 4800 setup as with my Leadtek 9532, as I said earlier we have been to York and back this weekend and also down to Torquay a couple of weeks ago all with no problems. Interesting.......... _________________ If it ain't broke then fiddle with it until it is! |

I reported this problem to TomTom earlier this morning and will post their reply here if/when I hear anything. Given the lack of progress on the address look-up issue I would be surprised to hear anything worthwhile other than the usual bulls**it automated reply.

[quote="ROBBINS"]TT3 is turning out to be a great upgrade - cannot use safety speed, cannot use POI's -
POI's work fine on TT3, I have the following on my SD Card.
Pocketgps UK SC
UK CooP Stores
UK Homebase
UK Mobile Speed Cameras
UK Sainsbury's
UK Speed Cameras
UK Speed 30
UK Speed 40
UK Speed 50
UK Speed 60
UK Speed 70
UK Vauxhall Dealers
Niels UK Postcode Database
Max POI on map set to 99
The CooP, Homebase, Sainsbury's I use as that is my Job visiting various stores every day. The Vauxhall should the car have problems. I add to these on a weekly basis and the updates are uploaded to the www.poihandler.com site
I also convert them to .CSV files that Autoroute2003 imports when it loads and shows all the locations as Icons/pushpins. _________________ Graham.

I have no problem with my POI's. All work fine using CheckPoint 2.
Just an observation about the Safety Screen. Raising speed to trigger the screen works fine as does the screen OVER the safety speed. BUT on coming up to a junction most detail on the screen dissappears about the point that the voice instruction should be heard. The screen locks.
On tapping it reveals the options screen and closing this sometimes brings back the system to normal - on other occassions it locks.
Tried changing the gps to NMEA 4800 - still does the same.
Seems that there may be interference between the voice and screen redraw? Might try it turning voice commands off.

Already tried turning off the voice commands with safety screen set to 50 it locked up. So for the time being I have to safety screen set to 124, voice on. That works for me so will leave as is untill TT do something about getting TT3 to work as an Upgrade rather than a down grade. _________________ Graham.

I have tried a range of safety speeds from 15mph upwards, and can't reproduce the locking up effect. It just flips painlessly from one display to the other at the appropriate speed, and voice instructions come at the right time.

Maps on card, application in device memory.

Is it possible that the problem relating to the safety speed is related to the SD card? I wonder if it happens using a CF card with the maps on.
Just a thought.

Hi all
I have been reading this thread about safety speed problems, together with the topic "iPAQ 2210 Bluetooth & GPS Drop Outs" with interest due to the problems that I have been experiencing with my system locking up at regular intervals.
The conclusions seem to be to "remove poi's from properties" and "set safety speed at 124mph" from both topics in order be able to use TT3 with iPAQ2210.
I have been experimenting with both variables over the last few days on many trips, and have hopefully come up with a solution that if the safety speed is set at 60mph or above, poi's can be enabled and the system works. Lowering the safety speed below 60 mph, and I go back to the system locking up.
It always locks up when the safety screen mode is in operation, and a change in direction or junction is approaching.
Hope these ideas may assist others in being able to use both poi's and safety speeds.
My system is iPAQ2210 Rom Upgrade 1.10

Hi,
Interesting.
I get no problems whatsoever with POI's. It's just with the Safety screen.
Like Robbins it locks, etc, when approching a junction - first the screen clears of most detail then locks.
Gone back to my 3950 with TT2. No problem with that whatsoever. Just a bit slow at working out routes c/f TT3 but a bigger sd card may help (not Sandisk)

Hi
Did you try experimenting with changing the safety speed levels before using the 3950.
I find the safety speed usefull as a speed indication.
Cheers |

ALL problems of safety speed are with my 2210/TT3. I've left my 3950/TT2 as is - never had a problem with that at all.
Tried various speeds for the Safety screen in TT3 - the slower the worse it gets. It'll probabaly work fine at 250mph! Certainly 60-80 is a problem. So I've set it to 125.
Hope they find a patch or something. Until then I'm sticking with the TT2 combo.

GPSAssist 2 has some configurable audible and visual speed alerts, as well as various other functions.
Details are available here. Note that there's more features coming - there will be a POI recorder soon, and more features are being added all the time.
