|
|
I can install speed cameras no problem (from pgps site)& they display the appropriate icons however as soon as i install poi's from the pocket gps database the camera icons show up only as grey dots. The other poi's display as normal, It appears I can have one or the other but not both together as this is when the problem arises - does anyone know what the problem is?
I'm using a Nuvi 350 with the latest firmware & the updated poi loader
Thanks |

hi,
it sounds as though you may have an extra ".gpi" file on your device. if you connect your device to the computer and look at the contents can you tell us what .gpi files there are in the 'Garmin' folder?
also, ALL poi's must be loaded at the same time - as soon as you upload any more it first removes the current poi.gpi file.

having said that, i notice you have been using both ash10's "camera manager" software as well as downloading the files manually - you only need to do one or the other. the icons may be an issue with camera manager?

there are 2 .gpi files in the folder - 1. poi.gpi & 2. gpg.gpi (good pub guide).
I have only recently installed the good pub guide but I had the grey dots problem before then.
I thought i'd cured the problem last night by clearing out all my poi's & installing the cameras only with ash's program - the speed camera icons displayed no probs, however as soon as i added the other poi's into the folder & uploaded everything together the result is the camera icons only display as grey dots.
I have even gone into diagnostic mode on the unit & cleared out waypoints etc without any effect.
Thanks for your swift response & help so far |

do any of your POI files have under scores _ in their names? this seems to have caused an issue with similar effects...
it didn't use to but i wonder if this new feature has been added with a firmware upgrade? if so then we may have problems with the pgpsw database...

have checked the poi files & almost all of them have under scores in their names including the speed camera files.
eg 1. Alliance_&_Leicester_ATM.bmp & Alliance_&_Leicester_ATM.csv
eg 2. pocketgps_uk_mobile.bmp & pocketgps_uk_mobile.csv
hope this helps to solve the problem
Thanks MaFt |

haven't got time at the mo but I'll load some poi's from other sources & see if I have the same problems.
In the meantime thanks for your efforts.

MaFt, Don't have a clue about this but Wed 11:18 you asked about having extra gpi files and Dunce replied at 1:21 saying he had 2.
Also, I remember something about grey dots when using the single file version on Nuvis when we were looking at the M42 cameras though that was a side issue.
I don't know if either of these have any bearing on the issue. _________________ Gerry

the 2 files he has though are different names. the issue with 2 .gpi files was that both files actually (somehow!) had exactly the same file name.
you can use multiple gpi files on the garmin and we even recommend this in terms of installing a uk and eur database onto the units.
the single file issue was, if i remember correctly, actually caused by having the 2x poi.gpi files?

Has this been resolved? if not, how many POI categories are you loading in total? |

I think the dot appears if you have too many points of interest categories loaded. Try deleting the points of interest and just loading the camera database files using poi loader. All should be well. If you want the other points of interest just keep the number of categories to a reasonable amount. I think it revolves around 257 categories as the limit, although I'm not entirely sure. _________________ _________________
