I have a Tom Tom series 30. It also has a traffic receiver which is numbered 4V00.014.
I have just bought a Brodit mount numbered 278019. From dsl developments. The mount has a with Pass-Through Connector for TomTom One 30-series.
Link below
http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/holder/TomTom+One%2030-series-Brodit-Holder.asp
The mount has a built in cigarette lighter but enables you to connect the traffic receiver underneath via the usb socket.
However it does not power the traffic receiver.
If I get the standard cigarette lighter lead that came with the tom tom and then connect it to the traffic receiver then plug this into the pass though connector. It will power the GPS but it will still not allow the the feed from the traffic connector though to the GPS.
If I just connect as with standard cigarette lighter lead, though traffic receiver then traffic receiver to GPS then traffic receiver works fine.
For some reason the pass though connector does not work.
The only way to connect the traffic receiver to the brodit mount pass though connector is with the end of that would normally go into the base of the gps. This would mean that when connected as per basic tom tom setup the power is going in the correct deirection. If you connect to the brodit pass though connector then the mount is trying to pass power though the wrong end of the traffic receiver.
Power normally enters the traffic receiver via its little box not the cable.
Any ideas what to do please. Or is the brodit mount an old system for an old type of traffic receiver that go it power from the other end.
Many thanks _________________ Tom Tom One Series 30 with TMC

The Brodit range do not currently support the mini USB style RDS receiver, only CarComm have the correct configuration for this accessory, see if they will accept it back or you will have to put up with the mess of cables to use the device fully - Mike |

Sorry, the widescreen XL CarComm cradle doesn't support the mini USB receiver, the smaller One cradle does as does the x20/ x30 unit - I would contact them and see if they have any plans to include this in the product range, try This Page as a starter - Mike |

Sorry but a bit confused as I don't have a wide screen GPS. Its a TT one series 30. You say that the smaller one cradle does accept the traffic mini usb reciever? _________________ Tom Tom One Series 30 with TMC

Your not half as confused as I am with the stupid damn numbering system the One range has acquired over the years!

The PS/2 accessory connector enables you to connect an original TomTom TMC antenna ( Mini-USB version ) with the included adaptor cable. The extended cable allows you to install the TMC antenna in a professional way. |
Have a read of This Page for more information, it might be still worth asking them if this is the mount for the exact device you have - Mike |

You'll forgives us for our uncertainty, TomTom have made a right royal mess of the numbering system for some models. The CNM-169 should be the model you need from Carcomm. _________________ Darren Griffin |

And what was the solution? It's certainly possible for the pass thru port to power the TMC, that is what Carcomm do so I'd be interested to know what resolved your issue? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Well I connected the mini USB connector from the TMC into the pass though connector. This is where I thought there was a problem.
I was a bit confused that the TMC could possibly receive power from either the female port on the little box bit or the male connector.
But anyway I connected the male connector into the female pass though connector on the brodit. But what I found out is that it needed a bit of brute force to fully push the connector in. It thought the connector was in as there was resistance to it. I was wrong, it needed to be pushed in further.
Now it works. It would be a pain to keep on removing the TMC connector as it does require a bit of force and wiggling to remove it.
But I am getting it hard wired in at Halfords next week. They are doing a deal that means I only have to pay £10 to get it fitted. So I will not have to worry about removing the power or TMC cable again.
But thanks for your help anyway. _________________ Tom Tom One Series 30 with TMC
