Well they are moving to quarterly updates soon....

Anyone seen a preview yet - i should be getting it soon(ish)? Apparently more A roads have the speed limit sign on them like motorways do. Hope they include an option to switch that off at some stage cos it's going to be out of date fast in some places....

Not seen it myself but there are reports on the Garmin map_authors list on yahoo, that it has a different format. Things like it's loaded onto your PC in a different location than usual, it doesn't store the usual info in the registry and you need the latest version of MapSource (6.14.1) - the one that most people haven't installed because of issues. One user installed it under the latest version then reverted to the 6.13.7 version - it didn't see the latest mapping.

The map file has a different extension (.gmap) and other things like that. I suspect they have made substantial format mods to circumvent some of the pirated/dodgy copies of previous versions. Also it may have something to do with moving to more regular issues.

@PaulB2005

So, this update is listed as being more expensive than the ones before, which have been $75 and not $129, but there is no mentioning of the quarterly update or if that is included in this price/package. My guess is, that it is not, and therefore I'll refrain from getting it right now.
Or do you know anything more about it?

Despite that, if I log into myGarmin, I don't get a map update available for my Quest2, which does use NT maps, but requires a slightly different version as the built-in maps need to be replaced. Lets see how fast this one turns up. This year or next February? Wink

There was some info floating about regarding Garmin Nu Maps where you pay a one off lifetime fee and get quarterly updates. I can't locate it just now....

I might have been interested if they had updated the software of my NUVI 310 to the look of the navigation screen on the new 255 with the turn arrows and a few new features. I think its a shame Garmin don't update the software like Tomtom. I'll just get the brand new map for my Tomtom 510 instead under their map guarantee, sorry Garmin!!

Downloaded it yesterday (mainly because it was a free update for me). Yes, speed limit signs displayed for A roads now.
It has loaded into c:/Documents and settings/All users/Application data/Garmin/Maps.

Halfords have 10% off everything at the moment. Is this the right map?

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_567931_langId_-1_categoryId_165587

Just puzzled by the naming - "Garmin Euro City Navigator Update 2009"

Is £53.99 a good price?

It's the exact same version i have here.

I'd take the name from the DVD cover shown on the page

Just bought the download for my Nuvi 350. Upon starting the install I'm told I don't have enough device memory and must choose from a number of regions - one being the UK and Ireland, effectively making my 350 a 300.

Not Happy! Mad

Not using the downloaded installer. Luckily I have a copy of Mapsource from my Garmin GPS 5 which has allowed me to do so, but the installer does not give you these options. I could PM you some screenshots of the installer and options.

Maybe the DVD maps will allow you to install to an SD card.
