Hi people,
I have an american c340 streetpilot with US maps on it, and I am using it in the UK using an SD card. Would it be possible for me to overwrite the US maps and replace them with the europe navigator v9 maps? As it seems a total waste of hardware in the garmin.
I genuinely have spent ages on the net trying to find the answer, but can't get a sniff of info. anywhere. Just a simple yes or no from anyone might just put me out of my misery.
many thanks in advance.
Bob. |

I would say no.
In saying that, I'm assuming that you're wanting to move the contents of your current SD card onto the StreetPilot. The licence key you have will be locked to the serial no. of the card, not the Garmin.
Also, physically moving the file would be entertaining, because you can't access the C340 in mass-storage mode. (You'd have to use UPDATER.EXE, which, I think, would expect the map to be in .RGN format - meaning some conversion would be necessary) |

Hi Phil,
Thank you very much for the advice. I will have a go at using the UPDATER.EXE file and see if I can get some joy with that, obviously the biggest danger for me is that I could render the unit inoperable. But I am will have a go.
Thanks again |
