The usual problem with this is when the ogg file name and POI file name don't match, you must have a matching set for the device to pick up ogg audio files.

For example each camera category will have at least three files like this:

pocketgps_uk_mobile_30.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_30.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_30.bmp

If you have the Speed Zoned camera files make sure you download and install the Speed Zoned ogg file set - Mke

Okay as always mike appreciatte your advice, unfortunatly no further forward in getting around this particular problem,

as I say have tried deleting the OGG files that were on the TOMTOM and putting on a fresh set, using zoned camera and zoned type OGG files but still they are not recognised.

any other ideas ??

You won't loose anything following a pin reset, look at the base of the device and you will find the reset hole. Doing this doesn't wipe settings/ data all it does is force the device to stop and then re-load the software next time you switch it on - Mike

I tried installing the voice warning today...TT OneXL....nothing at all....using the consolidated OV files, picked the consolidated Voice files and placed them in the map folder (ie Europe 1gb) and they are all there, but when I try to enable the alerts through POIs management no custom voice warning are shown only the original TT crappy beep/bell/siren/cow! sounds......I thought I followed the instructions corrorectly as they are pretty simple, I guess I must be even more simple as I cannot get them going!

Best regards David

Never mind its working, but BOY!! the voice quiet....might go back to a siren anyway! Very Happy

That's exactly how it works.
Don't know what instructions you found, but the ones on the voice download page say:

Quote:
# Warn when near POI (this MUST be done even if your camera POI’s have been previously configured).
# Select the first camera in the list, if asked whether you want to delete or remove the warning answer NO.
# You should now be asked to select the warning distance, followed by the Warn Only if POI on route – please set-up these options as per your normal preference, remember everyone will use different settings dependent upon how they use the device.

(Note NO mention of choosing a sound from the menu - it should skip that step).

And:
Quote:
Version 7/8 Note:

......you will be asked to choose a sound but will not be offered any options, this is normal. You will be asked 'Is this the sound you want?'. You should answer Yes on this screen.

If you want to have the normal menu to choose options of sounds to choose from, use the alternative method HERE

It's worth trying some of the other voice packs. Although they have been boosted as much as possible, some do "cut through" better than others.

Great thanks for that reply, makes complete sense now.....I did not of course read the instructions so carefully......oops! Rolling Eyes

I will try some other voices, although I am finding in practice the voice stands out a bit better than a siren/bell (even if it is a lower volume) I guess we are used to "listening" to voices rather than electronic beeps and screeches!

Best regards David

Try one of the ones with a siren at the front of the voice announcement... best of both worlds! Smile
