| Does anyone have any information on new maps from Garmin? Do they update them once a year? |

| Garmin update the maps once a year usually around the end of the year. New devices seem to get the maps first with upgrades for existing owners being available towards the end of the year / beginning of next year. |

I am looking to upgrade my trusty i3 with a Nuvi 250 or 255.
Does this mean that if I purchase the unit after 15th October I will be eligible for a free map update? |

And Garmin also (reportedly) announced at the Paris Car Show that they are going to quarterly updates as well as a Lifetime Map Update Service for a one-time charge.

Did they give any details of how the quarterly updates would work
