The GO 730 comes with maps of Western and Eastern Europe. As I have no use for Eastern Europe it comes expensive to upgrade these maps, arround £100.
My question is, will I be able to download a Western Europe map from the GO 710 range say and install it on the 730. Is there anything on the Tomtom site to prevent me from doing this? |

You need to stick with the v8 maps to get the lane assist, reality view and IQ routes, but otherwise any map should be OK to use with the device, if you want only UK then this could save you even more, switching to the other map when you travel in Europe.
With the new way of updating maps though where you purchase 12 months of updates in a single pass this could save you some considerable cash, see Here - Mike |

Mike......
As I believe was pointed out in another thread, the ability (or functionality) of scheduled map updates does not appear to have made it to North America. _________________ David |

Yes I did take that into consideration when I answered the question, with a .co.uk e-mail address the OP should be UK based and can therefore take advantage of the latest map upgrade offers - Mike |

Thank you Mike
I hadn't realised I would loose some functions of the unit by not using the proper maps. end of story.
As you say, with the new system for upgrading, the cost is looking a bit better. |
