Hey all. Just bought the new map/update package. Everything installed ok, but the ALG won't enable in the menu. It just says either the software or firmware aren't compatible. Any ideas? Thanks in advance |

As an update, I've tried a soft reset, and tried removing both the latest software (and bizarely it now takes me back to 7.481 during an update), and I'm trying to reinstall the map (8.10) to see if it works. Now updated again to 8.010 to see if it makes any difference, and about to re-add the maps back to the tomtom.

Just re-updating (if that's a word!) back to 8.010. It had it on, but I thought I'd remove it and let it re-download it. |

The 7,481 update is required BEFORE Home will install the version 8,010 software so what you are experiancing is quite normal - Mike |

Mike, sorry if I wasn't clear. I did have 8.010 installed before. It wouldn't enable the ALG in the change prefs menu. Then I removed it and the map, and tried updating (stage by stage) to get me back to 8.010. I have 8.10 maps which have been freshly downloaded tonight. |

Try tapping the sat strength meter (lower right corner) followed by the version box - does the map that is listed contain the 8,010 code number? - If not go to Change Preferences/ Manage Maps/ Switch Map and select the new map - it could be you have two different maps installed to the device - Mike |

Curious.......are you trying this with the unit docked or on battery power? _________________ David |

Ok, I have it working now. I simply had to delete the map and software off the device, and update the device twice (to get back to 8.010 software) and then copy the map back across. Odd, and not the slickest installation of an update. |
