I just tried to take up the offer from TomTom for the quaterly updates.
When trying to checkout the only option to pay was by credit card. I have always used my debit card in the past.
If i go to the shop and offer the full price then i get the option to use my debit card.
Have i just discovered the first hiccup with home 2.4. |

I've just updated mine with a visa debit card, so don't know why yours wasn't accepted. |

Did you try paying with your debit card? Any reason why you couldn't proceed? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I just tried again but the only symbols i can get up are Mastercard, Diners Club, Visa, Visa electron and Amex. Somethings obviously not right if others are able to use it. |

It might be peculiar to Maestro, others may be using Visa Debit cards? _________________ Darren Griffin |

It is actually not possible to pay by debit card. For more information please have a look at the following website:-

Well, make of that what you will.
The web shop says it accepts maestro, but TomTom say they don't. |

Hmm odd, they are confusing what is and isn't a Debit Card for starters as they state on the link they provided that they accept Visa Electron cards which are debit cards!
To add to the confusion, on the link they have provided they state
Quote: | What payment methods are available is explained on www.bibit.com |
Browsing to that page shows Bibit.com do accept Maestro but delving deeper here shows they only accept them for payments in the UK whereas Visa Electron is accepted for international payments.
Quite why this is different to the eShop I don't know, perhaps they are able to process eShop payments in the UK but don't have that facility for the subscription service? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Yes Darren i think you are right with that.
It is obviously something here that is unique to Maestro.
Shame as i was given a good offer £49.95 for the latest map and four updates.
Might have to get the buddies card fired up!! |

I have been able to retrace your steps and it turns out that at the moment purchasing the new map offer through Home can only be done by using a credit card. This might change in the future, but at the moment you will not be able to use your debit card. To work around this, maybe you can borrow a friend's credit card to purchase the service?
Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
With Best Regards
Can you believe this. Some of you say you have used your debit cards.
Not that i don't believe you, i'm just confused.
I think i will go and lie down. |

Visa debit cards are transparent as far as payments are concerned hence their confusion. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Or get a credit card, pay the bill then cancel it again. Personally I wouldn't want to only have a Maestro card because TT isn't the only place they aren't accepted. Always best to have a backup (in more ways than one) . _________________ TT Go Essential |
