I've turned mine on several times today at home, and each time it's shown me to be in different parts of the district, up to a mile away. I've even been able to "Navigate to" my home address, and plan routes varying from 1 to 5 minutes journey time.
Edited to say that a reset seems to have put it right. _________________ TT Go Essential |

We're experiencing the same problem here in NA and I personally experienced the same thing as you.....turned the unit on at Home and TT showed me a mile away. Then, I watched as it kept repositioning me for the next 10 minutes. Interesting. _________________ David |

I'm telling you, there is a huge electromagnet doing stuff on the Swiss / French border.
You run a magnet past a compass and it does exactly what the TomToms' are doing. You mark my words. _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

Today, I repeated my journey along the A56 that had the icon off route problem and all was correct, in both directions.
I don't think they put the Large Hadron Collider at CERN on standby over the weekends in Switzerland to save power, so perhaps the end of the world is a few working days away! _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Tomtom One V2. Map ver720.1802 Uk & ROI
This last couple of weeks I have had trouble with the Icon being off track or it appears totally confused against the spoken directions, also Gpsfix semms a waste of space at the moment as it is taking an age to locate the sattellites from what it normally does, soft reset has not improved things |

Ihave found the opposite regarding gpsfix. For the past few months, I couldn't get a gpsfix download and my OneXL took approx 5 minutes toget a fix every morning. Eventually I sorted it out and since the gpsfix are now coming through, I get a fix within 30 seconds or so. Nothing else has changed, I still turn the Tomtom on and off in the same places. |

I had the same problem last week, It was way out East and West and it was running a couple hundred metres behind. I reset the unit a few times, but it kept happening. I contacted tomtom support who said they think it is the software , and told me to format the unit then reinstall the folders but not the single files, then connect to home and download the software again. I was running 8.010 before, but it seems fine now since I reinstalled it.
But thinking about it it could have had something to to with that waste of money they have built under the French/Swiss boarder, seems a coincidence. |

I am sure that I have heard somewhere that solar activity distorts the upper atmosphere so that signals to and from satellites are pushed out of position, thats why sometimes the signal to your satnav shows you in a slightly different position and why your satnav cannot find the satellite to lock onto even though it has the correct position from quickgps fix.
Or something like that! |
