I have taken part in both trials and have received nothing.I dont think I will take part in another as promises are broken too many times. |

Rejoice with me!
I have now got Western Europe v8.10 Build 1907! Last night I sent TT a support grumble quoting their latest email of July, promising the new map when it became available, telling them it has been available for some weeks so it's about time they gave it to me. Or alternatively would they instead give me two years GPRS Traffic subscription for my TTNav6 on my HTC Advantage.
This morning I had two replies, first saying they had asked for it to be added to my account, second saying it had been added to my account.
Download took exactly 30 minutes (I have up to 20Mb Broadband and the router showed speeds varying from nothing up to 17.6Mb). Installation took 12 minutes.
Their instructions started with taking a backup - without actually naming Windows Explorer, that was the method described!!
The installation never mentioned about space or replacing old map.
I lost my Home location and warnings for pgpsw speed cameras. I did not feel inclined to copy my old MapSettings.cfg file, so it cost me a few minutes to set those up again.
Mapshare says I haven't updated for 52 weeks and there are 34,000+ corrections ready and waiting - they can carry on waiting, too!
For all who are waiting, I'd recommend you first try "Update my GO" in case my efforts have pushed the boat out for everybody. Failing which, grumble like I did. _________________ Dennis

I dunno - I turn Reality view off and ignore the ALG and IQ Routing. And anyway, I still haven't had a job today, so I haven't driven anywhere except to the garden centre closing down sale.
All I want is decent maps and reasonable navigation. Oh and hands free phone that works. Oh and RDS-TMC that works too. _________________ Dennis

Just the TomTom site, Support - said I'd taken part in the Beta test and was promised a new map and it is now long overdue. _________________ Dennis

Nice one, but a real shame they wouldn't trade the free map for 24 months of GPRS Traffic - still you can't have everything.
Just a quick reminder for others in the same position waiting for this free map following the earlier testing, the UK support contact number is 0845 161 0009 - Mike |

Well. I've now started down the grumble path too. Still waiting for a response for support though. |

I did it through Questions on the support section of TT website.
Here's the end story (apologies for making it anonymous)

Dear Mr N,
Thank you for your enquiry. We have requested that the new v8.10 map be assigned to your account, and will be in further contact once available.
With Best Regards
The TomTom Customer Support Team |

I was involved with Beta testing Western Europe Charleston map and was promised a new map as follows ....
Quote: | Dear Mr N,
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support
Your reference for your query is 080705-00xxxx.
After consulting our testing team, your map will be assigned when they are officially available for your device. We are now closing this incident. |
As the new maps Western and Central Europe v8.10 have been available for purchase for some weeks now, I think it's about time you provided my free one.
As an alternative, would you consider giving me a two year subscription to the GPRS Traffic service on my other device, a HTC Advantage X7510 using TTN6 and map 675 under a different account? | Two hours later they sent me an update telling me the map had now been allocated to my account. Feel free to quote the above at them and ask them to contact Jim H. _________________ Dennis

Thanks for that Dennis. I've added that to my question on TT. The current status is in research so hopefully I'll hear something on this today. fingers crossed! |

I've given up with the emails, just called the technical team and they have agreed that if they escalate the map will be assigned to my account, once this is done they'll send me an email... |

I am waiting for something better than V.810.

Like what? - if you wait too long you might end up with the v810 map being given to you in a few months time, I would get it now while you can make good use of it - Mike |
