Hi chajun,
If you PM me with your e-mail address, I'll send you a listing of my Backup01 files.
We'll get it sorted between all of us here, I'm sure. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

Hello problem backing up from Tom Tom Home now solved. Tom Tom sent this message. Thanks for all your help.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It sounds as if there are some minor corruptions preventing you backing up the device
allow Windows to run an error check ;
Go to Start My Computer.
Look for a removable drive called "TOMTOM" and right-click on it.
Select Properties , Tools , Check now.
Check the box next to "Automatically fix file system errors" and press Start.
If you do a default installation of HOME ensuring that it installs to the primary drive ( usually C; ) it will install default settings automatically. |

I can only repeat... even though you may have got it sorted for now, please don't trust Home to make your backups in future, use Explorer.
For a start, did you realise Home actually only keeps one backup? If you try to make another one it OVERWRITES the last one. USELESS! |

I fail to see the requirement for backing up the pc Registry, when we are talking here about taking a backup if the Internal Memory and (if required) the data on an additional SD card in a TomTom PND.
If I were backing up my Wndows XP machine, then I would consider a seperate Registry backup. The only other time I would do this would be if I were making significant changes to the pc, hardware or software wise.
Can you perhaps give your reasoning, since it's possible I hve been deludimg myselg over the last 20 years or so of using pc's _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

Yeah, I kinda wondered why the OP would say what he said. No relevance to this situation whatsoever. _________________ David |

Just for information, I have today received my new map from TomTom. In the instructions, the first instruction was to do a backup of my device and they described how to do it - without actually mentioning the name, the method described was Windows Explorer (Start, My computer, TomTom, Copy, etc, etc). Interesting from the company which gives us Home to make our lives easy! _________________ Dennis
