I have a shiny new 730T (latest app versionand maps) and, at the weekend, I went on a journey long enough to use the traffic receiver capability(!).

I plugged the Traffic module into the connector, the little green light came on and I was set to go.

Okay, it was a Sunday, but I didn't get any traffic information for the whole journey betwen Sussex and Warwickshire. There were lane closures, several jams, etc. so surely something should have show up?

Have i missed something obvious, or is that data received from the traffic unit less than ideal?

Thanks

Possibly because it was the weekend there was nothing showing. As a test, if you let it lock onto the signal when parked you can have a look to see what has been picked up by going into 'Browse Map', choose 'options' and select 'Traffic' (only shows when the TMC module is plugged in).

I normally see almost a hundred roadworks/contraflows etc anywhere between Manchester and Oxford when here in the Midlands so you should see some wherever you are.

Hi MrPharmasist in reply to your question where you said that you plugged in TMC and then went on a journey I take it that you did ask tomtom to take you on a route otherwise I dont think you will get any traffic alerts at least I dont on my 520T hope this helps

Do you have an athermic windscreen?

If so, it will block the signal.

I take it that you mean the green circle on screen that indicates reception?

Since the introduction of Navcore 7,480 and all subsequent releases including the version 8 software the illuminated green ball does not indicate true reception of a usable signal. What it does indicate is that in the last 5 or 6 minutes the device has seen a signal that could supply RDS-TMC data, it doesn't even mean that any data has been received though.

The best method to see if the device has found anything is to tap the traffic info bar on the right side of the screen, then select Browse Map and zoom out to see if any red spots appear which are the incidents - Mike
