Hi,
Sorry if my last post came accross as whingeing, it wasnt meant in that way.

I'm extremely grateful for the advice you've all given to me as a newbie, and paying £40 for new maps not only allows me to keep my older tomtom but saves me paying £100 for a new one. Smile

I'm looking forward to being able to drive again with the lovely Jane telling me exactly where to go in my ear!
Simon

Hi again,
Sorry to be a pain but i've had a disaster of sorts.

I've just paid the £40 to upgrade the maps.
I pressed continue in order to download the maps to the tomtom but was greeted with an internal tomtom server error. The only option given to me was to click exit.

I can find nothing in the help files relating to how I go about downloading my upgrade manually.

I've restarted tomtom home and the software has searched for uupdates but found none.

Is there anyway I can do the upgrade now or I have just thrown away £40? Crying or Very sad

You need to select "Add Maps, Traffic, Voices etc" on the first page of the HOME main menu.

The "Internal Server Error" is probably because the servers are busy with so many people downloading the new maps. You'll have to keep trying. The middle of the night is often the best time!

Hi,
Panic over, I reconnected after a reboot and the maps were waiting for me. The tomtom connected and downloaded the new maps. Laughing

One thing though, when I double tap the tomtom screen on the satellite link to view the version, it says Map: Great Britain Map v562.0.
Shouldnt this read v725?
During the installation process I wasnt asked for a product code, could this be the reason?
Yours confusedly,
Simon.

If I remember correctly that was a common fault, reporting the incorrect version number. Nothing to worry about.

I'm not so sure about that....

Are you doing this check on the Go itself? Don't do it in the Home on-screen emulator.

I think some more investigation might be in order.
I haven't got Home on this PC, but from memory.... there should be an item to "view contents of my Go" or something. Look at maps there and click "more info"

Hi Andy,
Yes I was doing this on the tomtom itself.

I looked as you advised in tomtom home and both the older and the newer map versions were listed there.
I searched the forums and found a previous entry of yours saying to go to map preferences on the tom tom and to select switch map - and its worked. My version is now 725 as i hoped.

Thanks very much to Andy and others for spending your time advising me on how to upgrade my maps - youve saved me a lot of money and now I have an up to date tomtom to use in the future.
Simon.
