|
|
Hi there
Now this is a question for all you iCN 630 users ( or anyone else if they've any suggestions), it's even more serious than V2 not showing the new M6 Toll Road.
My iCN mount has been attached to the windscreen of my car for the past few months and no matter what it was there stuck like the provebial to a blanket. Now guess wot, on Saturday evening it decided to fall off and no matter what I've tried it doesn't want to stick.
It used to take some effort to push the locking cam over but now it requires virtually no effort at all.
Has anyone else come across this and if so how did you get over the problem
And yes before you say it I have cleaned the inside of the screen
Best wishes

Navman did have some issues a few years ago with their Navman 3000 suction cups like this, sometimes the suction arm will lose air tightness and not suction anymore, or it will but not very well. I'd suggest contacting Navman. |

Hi Dave
I did as you suggested and the response from Navman is firstly clean the windscreen with IPA and if that fails send the mount back and they will send out a replacement, but could not offer an answer why the locking cam had lost it's tension.
As I said before if any other iCN 630 user has had similar problems please let me know.
Regards

The locking cams can lose their lock if a perforation/hole has occured in the rubber suction cup around the center area of the cup. Basically the lock when pressed draws out any air that is within the cup area on the windscreen, so if there are multiple holes than this can cause a problem. Other reasons can be that the windscreen isn't clean, or something has failed internally within the mount. Some suction mounts are spring loaded and sometimes the spring can get caught, break or dislodge. |

Good morning Dave
Well
Fair play to Navman Customer Services, I received an e-mail yesterday telling me that a new mount was being despatched and it was here at 09:00hrs together with a supply of IPA wipes. :D
Haven't had chance yet ,by comparing the old one with the new, to see if I can spot what caused it to fail. I'll certainly look to see if the Rubber suction cup is perforated in any way.
Regards
