pocketgpsworld.comThe issue of glare appears to be one of those problems you either suffer or don't. There are those users who swear by some form of visor or shade for the satnav and there are others who see no need for them full stop! Well if you are the former read on, if you are the latter you can go make yourselves a cup of tea for a few minutes!

There have been a number of attempts at solutions to the problem of glare, GlareStomper chose a material visor with and Drumma chose to offer visors manufactured from ABS plastic. Drumma's visor was particularly well designed but the development and manufacturing costs were high and consequently they never sold in the numbers required to justify ongoing development.

Now Dutch company ZunZun have entered the market with another solution, a cardboard visor that can be folded to fit a range of devices, folds flat when not in use and most importantly is cheap to produce and cheap to ship.

When I had a Glare Stomper on my original TomTom, it was held on with velcro. It also had two velcro tabs which enabled you to fold it up while remaining on the unit. I was still able to slip it into the original TomTom pouch as a complete unit.
Will the ZunZun fold up like that or should it be removed to allow for storage?

No it won't, but it can be removed in 2 secs and then it will fold completely flat in a footprint about the width of the device it's been configured to fit.

And it can be re-configured to fit other devices at any point, although it has to be folded to suit, doing so does not prevent you from changing the folds to suit other devices.

I omitted to add that it's a shade (excuse the pun!) over £4.00

if i fold it for a tomtom will it invalidate my visor if i then reinstall it onto garmin? how do they track installations - would I need to mess about contacting customer services to get a new activation code for my elastic band to ft properly? how much are replacement elastic bands?

seriously though, this actually looks like a really good idea! it's always the simplest ideas that do the best...!

PGPSW visors? yeah, i think they'd go down well!

I decided to order one of these, at 8.28 Eur including delivery, as I find the screen of my TT GO 720 virtually unreadable in sunny conditions.

However, the only method of payment they accept is a transfer to their bank account in Holland, and my bank quoted me £25 for the transaction!

Needless to say I shan't be placing an order! Sad

I'll discuss this with them, they have only just set-up so may not yet have had the chance to prepare for international orders. Meanwhile you have a PM.

Thanks, Darren.

I hope they can sort out another method of payment, or they won't sell many in the UK!

well it's dead easy to set up a payal payment...! even if they add £1 to the cost to cover fees it's better than £25!!

That's what I thought. Maybe they've never heard of PayPal. Confused

Anyway, I'm sure Darren will put them straight!

Well I made my own by turning an old fruit juice carton inside out (the inside being silver, you know). Two staples at the corners to hold it in place and a slot cut in the back to fit over the windscreen mount point and I'm all set. On my HTC Advantage, which is black, the silver cover stops it getting so hot the battery won't charge as well as shading the screen.
ANYWAY - I thought "I should patent this idea - it's so simple!" Ah well - too late now.
Heres a pic BTW.
Cheers,
Rich.
p.s. Kinda looks like a GATSO doesn't it? Ah the irony . . .
