Here is the reply I received from Navigon re the Via Michelin guides.
"thank you for contacting us. In reply to your concern, we can inform you that the Navigon 8110 via Michellin comes only with the POI's and not yet with the guides .We have no information of when this will be avaible and at the moment it is only out in France."
Sounds like it is only available in French! Disappointing but maybe something coming on the horizon. |

Odd as the press release by Navigon and VM earlier this year gave the impression it would include the Guide data. Maybe it's just taken longer to program it than they first thought?
Will see what they say to my question about it being made available via 'myNavigon' _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

This is the reply I just got
"thank you for contacting Navigon Support. In reply to your concern we here inform you that Navigon Via Michelin is recently avaible and at the moment only on the french site. We have no confirmation if this will be avaible soon on Navigon Fresh, but Navigon always keeps its costumers updated and well informed so as soon as this possibility will be avaible we will surely be promt in informing you as priority. We thank you here for your queries and comprehension.
Yours sincerely,
Paula Z.

So I would maybe hold off buying from the French site, as it 'could' mean that you find all of the VM POI's in French?
It sounds a possibility that we maybe able to get the VM POI... I think as long as enough people ask they may see it as worth doing. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

I'm missing a feature to search for a street name without entering the city name first. Is this a 8110 specific feature or is this a way Navigon have chosen for all of its products?
There should be a option to do a country wide search for a street name and then choose which of the suggested cities is the right one. |

All sat navs I have ever owned have always asked for the city before the street name. I'm of the impression that all GPS units are the same?
Navman and ViaMichlin units all asked for city / town before street. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

I've been using a Garmin Quest 2 where you can search either entering a city first or search from all the cities. Actually it's searching all the cities in database, but searching within just one country would be enough in my opinion.
Some (big) cities have divided their postal codes and sometimes the city names too in smaller areas so you have to know the exact address before you can search it. |

hi, just got my 8110 yesterday. have not stopped playing with it. I noticed in the forum there is an update from 7.0.7 to 7.0.8. The Navigon fresh says I've got the latest. can you help.
The 8110 beats my last tomtom one hands down.
With the tmc, What's the frequency for recieving the signals on the fm scale. I take it to be, that the trafficmaster is where the 8110 gets its signal . this is the first time i have used tmc and any info will be gratefully recieved.
cheers for now

Have had to just check and it does seem odd that your not offered the 7.08 update? Is the unit all registered and everything, just wonder if it takes a while to filter through the systems.
What map versions do you appear to have on the unit? Navigon didn't say what the 7.0.8 software was for and rumour was it's just for the map update?
As for TMC, I'm not sure as I tend to leave it on Auto scan but generally it should be Classic FM it tunes too. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

Hi, thank for reply.
The version I have is 7.0.7(build-1021) I registered the unit via Navigon fresh.
On the subject of Tmc, Does it cover all over the country or just major cities. _________________ Death Is Easy. Except For Moment Or Two Of Pain, Death Has No Terrors for Those Willing To Face Life......... |

I would give it a day or so with the 7.0.8 update and then contact support.
As for TMC it's patchy to be honest... the 8110 aerial has been better than some others I have used but broadcasting on limited frequencies like Classic FM does mean you get areas of no coverage _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

The tmc worked and made me avoid a jam. everything was so clear when you came to junctions hell of alot better than my old tomtom. best 350 quid i've spent. _________________ Death Is Easy. That's good to hear... disappointed with the IFA 'secret' as all it seems to be is a 'lower' model to all the other models.... why keep it so secret.... VERY DISAPPOINTED... I was expecting some huge development. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

Did anyone ever suss out whether the 8110 gives delay time information?...

Great that it picked up on the jam but let's say it would have only held you up for a couple of minutes - would you still have bothered to pursue an alternative route?
