|
|
Those running Windows Vista may have recently found (like me) that TT Home will not run. My Go 720T can still be seen and accessed by the computer, but Home refuses to start.
TomTom are aware of the issue and have no real answer - advising me that it's a Windows issue not a TomTom one.
Great.
I eventually found a way around the issue which may be of assistance to others .... here goes ....
I researched the issue on the www and found others running Vista and TTH suffering the same symptoms. Some cured it by uninstalling and reinstalling repeatedly the TTH software. I did that to no avail.
I then decided to uninstall TTH Home and clean the system of all traces of TTH (though I did not touch the registry) and then uninstall all the Microsoft / Windows / Vista updates installed since TTH stopped working.
I then reinstalled TTH (2.3) and it worked just fine.
I then reinstalled each Microsoft / Windows / Vista update one at a time, rebooting in between each update. TTH now works as it should.
The Updates affecting my machine were ...
Vista update KB651618
Vista update KB952287
Vista Security update KB953733
Vista Security update KB950974
Windows Mail update KB951066
IE7 update KB953838
junk mail update KB905866
and KB951072
Hope this helps someone.

vista works for me too, i also have a 720t, the only issue you will have is if you try to connect with the sd card in the tt if it is over 4gb. remove it and it will connect perfectly, i have an 8gb sdhc card |

Mine's working too with GO 510/710 and all the latest updates.
As opposed to us being the lucky ones it does seem that we are 'normal' and you are the unlucky one? |

No problems here with Vista ever at all.
Everything has always worked fine.
Must be the OP's PC has corrupted files. |

I run Vista HP x64 and TTH 2.3 runs perfectly.
So when are they going to issue 64-bit software then? |

Plenty of problems a while ago with a TTH upgrade. Like OP, had to completely remove all trace of TTH before the upgrade would run. TT were no help suggesting it was a windows problem. As usual a PGPSW forum member came to the rescue. |
