Hi Guys,

I have had the LMG burning in my pocket and i have to use it before the 16th.
It looks like i'm going to miss the new release Mad and will have to make do with v720

So then i just realised, if i upgrade do i lose my custom POI's i have made?

I found from an earlier post that i will lose my mapshare changes, but then i wondered about custom POI's.

I have the TT720.

Make sure you do an Explorer backup of your unit's contents PRIOR to upgrading.

After upgrading, copy your custom .ov2 files (and associated .bmp files, if present) from your backup to the specific map folder on your unit after the new download. Voila! Your custom poi's will be back. (Andy_P states, I think, that sometimes the new installation will automatically copy over the custom poi's). Anyway, one way or another, you CAN get them in the new map.

Now then.....

What you will also probably need (or want) to do is also copy the MapSettings.cfg file from the map folder of your backup and overwrite the file by the same name in the new map folder in your unit. You'll want to do this if you've created favourites; you'll also want to do this to again access stuff like 'recent destinations', setting for Home (not the software... where you live Laughing ) etc. Use Explorer for the copying of this file, too.

Update to my post.

The POI's did carry across on the upgrade to v720.

The trick with the mapsettings.cfg worked and i now have all my fav's back on the new map.

Thanks dhn for the tip, saved me a lot of work Clap

If your 'favourites' are that important you might consider copying them across to a custom POI category.. much easier to move and archive them, and if tomtom change the map config file again then you wont lose them.
