I am a new user of a Garmin Legend HCx gps.
I have bought the above software - the version on a micro SD card and this is working ok installed in the gps. However I am finding it very hard work creating waypoints on the small screen to make a complicated route.
My question is this. If I put the micro SD card in a card reader and connected it to my pc would I be able to access the mapping and create routes as I can do with Memory Map software and download to the gps.
Hope someone can help with this before I rush out and buy a card reader in my desperation. |

NO NO
Buying a SD card means that you have no access to the maps on the PC.
You should by the DVD to load onto a PC and then load the maps onto the unit.
Was the SD card up to date, there are various outlets selling 'old' maps! |

Strumble
Thanks for the rapid reply.
I rather thought that might be the answer.
I bought the card from Expandsys a couple of months back and I cannot tell how old it is.
I am now practicing my waypoint/route creation on the gps screen and I may have some more questions. |

It is important that you find out the version of the maps to see if you might be entitled to an 'update' [free].
v9 was last year.
v2008 was this year Oct 2007 to now.
v2009 is due in a few weeks time [but we may not be able to get our hands on it until Jan or Feb 2009] |
