I have just registered.
Can anyone please tell me if the Pocket GPS speed camera database covers Northern Ireland.
Thanks

You will find the speed cameras for Nothern Ireland in the UK database, not the European!
You will have to register and pay first - but the link is here:-
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras
I see you have registered but the payment may take time to reflect your status. |

Hi,
Thanks for the info. I have just purchased a Navman S 50 which claims to have the UK Safety cameras pre loaded, but on the box it excludes Northern Ireland. Can anyone please confirm that the Pocket GPS definitely Covers Northern Ireland for Safety cameras & red light warnings |

HI.
Thank you very much for your quick response. When I read the info on Navman S 50 in Pocket Gps list, it says that there is not enough space for the complete download.
Is it possible to just download the N.I. data base ?
Thanks |

No, you have to download the whole of the UK.
The Garmin PGPSW Consolidated for example is 472KB with icons
Having downloaded you can 'manipulate' and remove England and Scotland but I would be upset if you removed me [Wales]
You can also remove various other types of cameras that pehaps do not exist in Northern Ireland.
I cannot help you with the unit you have!
Just download Navman database - 550KB! |

The note about the 12000 limit, mentions that you could use the "consolidated by camera type" version of the database and leave out the Mobile camera sites.
Alternatively, here's one way to extract just the NI cameras from the database so you can have the mobiles too....
Download your preferred version of the database (all in one, by camera type, or speed-zoned) and unzip the contents.
Then open each data file in turn in POI Edit (available from HERE), and adjust the display so the entries are listed in Longitude order. Then you should be able to delete everything west of W 5.4000.
Save the new list with the same name and repeat for all the other files.
A bit boring to do, but unless they can provide a custom download for you, I think that's the way it would have to be done. |

Of course, Andy means delete everything to the EAST of W5.4000 (ie everything with a higher longitude than -5.4 (that's all the positive numbers and the negative ones from -0.0001 to -5.4000). You will be left with just those in NI to save. _________________ Gerry

Congratulations, Gerry....
You were the first to spot my deliberate mistake, which I put in just to check if you were all paying attention.
(That's my story, and I'm sticking to it... ) |

For Garmin users with Mapsource on the PC.
Download the .gpx or .gdb file
Open it on the PC [as screenshot above]
Select the camera locations as above.
Copy and paste to 'new' open mapsource and save as .gpx file.
Using POI loader send .gpx file to unit.
60 seconds???
For NI you could transfer them as Waypoints rather than POI as there are only approx. 250. |

Hi.
Thanks for all your help so far, most of it sounds too complicated for me.
As I have only got 1200 POIs to play with, is it possible to download only
1/ Fixed cameras
2/Mobile
3/Temp.
4/Spec.
Sorry to be a pain

There are only 250 in NI, but you will have to download all the UK to the computer and then 'manipulate' the database before loading to the unit. |
