It looks like Memory Map are trying to compete with the A10 again by launching another new device, the Airo A25. It's a ruggedized, waterproof Pocket PC phone with GPS which runs memory map software. Maybe sales of the Road Angel haven't been as good as they hoped, so they're trying a new angle: smaller form factor plus mobile phone built-in.
It remains to be seen what the battery life and GPS performance will be like on this new device, but the fact that it only has a 2.8" screen doesn't bode well for starters in my book...
Also, interesting choice of name: A25 implies that it's a higher spec/more up-to-date model than Satmap's A10 ! Watch this space for the upcoming Satmap A30 ;) |

A bit of a strange choice of platform though to combine a phone with Memory Map, I use a PPC based phone with the MM software and quite often when you get out in the wilds the phone signal disappears. In fact I often go into the hills so the damn thing wont ring!
I had a play around with an early development unit of the A25 at the Outdoors Show earlier this year, nice device but the display is a tad small, certainly ruggedized though - I don't think it is anything at all for SatMap to worry about to be honest - Mike |

To be fair this is being marketed as a Marine solution and comes with Marine charts. As such it makes a little more sense albeit still not cheap. _________________ Darren Griffin |

My preference remains to have devices which concentrate on doing one thing only but doing it very well, rather than jacks-of-all-trades gadgets which promise much but don't deliver. |
