I want to add extra voices to my device so I bought a memory card, shoved it in and tom tom wouldnt start just a pic of a card with a red cross through it. How do I use a card for extra memory. |

You have to copy all the files and folders from the TomTom internal memory to the card, only when all these files etc are on the card will the device boot up correctly - Mike |

If I use tom tom home to back up to the card and use say a 2gb card would that be ok |

Best you use Explorer, not TTHome to back everything up to a sd card. Make sure hidden folders/files are showing, as are extensions for known file types. |

Use the instructions for making a backup which are in the TomTom FAQs post in the "stickies" at the top of the index.
Just make the backup and then copy it to the card.
The issue here is that only the x20 and x30 models can use the SD card and the internal memory at the same time. All the other models can only use one or the other, so EVERYTHING has to be copied to the card. |
