hi guys
i've just installed iGo8 and i'm wondering where i could find an option to switch the classic vertical view to horizontal one if you know what i mean.. previously i was using iGo 2006 and there was a simple setting for it.. any help would be appreciated.. thx a lot
I have version 8 working on the HTC Diamond, although it has a built-in GPS receiver, I use a GNS combined GPS & TMC receiver and it works fine on the TMC in the U.K, a very useful addition to the program
I contacted Navango who stated that TMC for PDAs will not be working in the UK and there are no plans when this will be made available.
Are there any settings that have to be changed?
I'm also struggling to find TTS voices for IGO8.
Is there anyone out there who can help as I'm losing patients with IGO now. _________________ Regards

Well, I think that the text-to-speech status is similar like skins:
it's something what iGo is prepared for, and something what was not supplied with it/available for download from official support/update page (naviextras.com). Same is with the speedcams, obviously Naviextras is not supplying users with the speedcams database, but I can use yours (pocketgpsworld).
We can only guess, that if the iGo team will make it available offcially, it can be the files licensing issue, so it can be the stopping them reason.
But, again, I don't think that all job, done by dimka, gurjon, lunknet, kikker (including the speedcam voice alert files, which btw. are working perfectly) is illegal. Same, I cannot find on the official Naviextras forum/pages the statement that TTS is illegal.
If not banned, its allowed, right?

OK, but if you'll take a look at the official igo8 forum at naviextras - you can find the all illegal links deleted with clear statement that this was leading to the illegal content.
So, why i.e. skins, speedcams are LEGAL (iGo8 is ready for that, but it's neither the part of the originally delivered pack, neither can be downloaded via naviextras official update site), but TTS are not?
To be more specific: in gurjon, dimka, Linknet's Ultra skin - a part of the skin is the set of the voice files as the part of voice speed camera warning. Exactly same as for TTS, you have set of the files for each of the languages.
So, what is the difference?
Voice files for speedcam warning (as part of the skins) are legal, while voice files for TTS - are not?
Well, in medicine, psychiarty particular, such way of thinking is called: schizophrenia.
If this is official policy of NavNGo... I wish them the best, but I will switch to AutoMapa.
To be honest, when I've looked at their maps update price and maps quality... I've took the decision already, as with automapa for about 114GBP equivalent I can have whole Europe with one year subscription to maps & soft update, while further yearly renewal is approx 40GBP only

After waiting so long for the 2008 It doesnt list my HP 6915 as being compatible !
NecroPost revival. The 6815 IS listed, and is a lower spec to the 6915, so hey, it'll run
And ps, I've got an iPAQ HW 6915 as well, damn good phone/PDA
Currently looking over the IGO s/w as a valid alternative to TTN6 as well. _________________ Roger, G1LIW

IGO now have working TMC in the UK but you must have version 8.3 to allow it to work due to the way the maps are intergrated in the device. _________________ Regards
