I have just seen in home that the "up to 25% off" offer has been extended
Does this mean the release of new maps, and for upgrades for the X20 has been delayed from the rumored August launch ?

I would assume the new maps would be out a bit later on from now. The June 2008 teleatlas update is just released to manufacturers etc., so i`d also assume that tomtom are busy encoding and stripping out more data for us. Oh and the rumour was that from this next update, tomtom will now encorporate some of the mapshare updates we have all submitted. _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

When I connect to HOME it still says
Quote: | Until 30 July 2008 . . . . up to 30% discount on all maps | _________________ Anita

June 2008 Teleatlas update? You have to be joking - more likely to appear in our maps for new year 2009, IF we're lucky.
TT maps webpage says "up to 30% off" and "Successful offer extended" (doesn't say how long). To me, that means they're not yet releasing the v8 maps for units predating the x30 range, so we must wait until they've flogged off a few more old maps to unsuspecting punters. _________________ Dennis

Yes, same here: "Successful offers extended. Up to 30% discount on all maps"
They don't say how long the extension is though... |

If a brick & mortar business kept flogging a 30% off sale on its inventory, one could reasonably suspect a cash flow problem with that company.
I wonder if .... nah.... |

I think if you look at certain new junctions on the google maps, they now appear on them correctly mapped. I certainly have 2 major junctions that have recently, within a few days, just appeared on google maps, and they are based on the teleatlas mapping data.
Even though i referred to it as the 'june 2008 update', this doesn`t mean it includes new roads up till then, more likely that it includes new road data that was mapped until roughly xmas time! But i would defo assume that what is on google maps today, is what will be on the next tomtom map update due out shortly! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

Do the 720 maps not work in the 730? I bought a USA map in Jan 08 and when I sent to redownload it, it said not compatible with device.
If so, that's a bit cheeky! |

They should do, but TomTom have introduced a new policy of "we tell you what maps you can use on a particular device" - presumably to stop people using the larger versions of maps on cheaper models and to stop v8 maps being used on devices they don't want them released for yet.
If you downloaded it, do you not still have the map where Home stores it on your PC? (in addition to any backups you made yourself). |
